A 90 year celebration....

My Mom just turned 90 years old and we had a little birthday celebration for her.

My 3 other sisters had planned to bring Mom up to my house for her birthday, but several things got in the way so we ended up at Mom's house for her birthday.
(I live 250 miles north of them)

Jen had gone through the house and collected a few things for the table to create a centerpiece vignette.  She wanted a Victorian look. When I got there I studied it and decided to add some of Mom's dolls.

Many years ago my mother started taking a ceramics class, then she started going to doll shows. She always had a love for dolls and a collection started to grow!
She often made the outfits they are wearing, sometimes she would find accessories at the shows to help her complete the look she wanted.  I'll show another post with some more of the dolls another time.

These gold cup and saucer sets are from my great-grandmother.  My great-grandparents, grandparents and my parents all used them at their 50th wedding anniversaries.
I looked up the cup and saucer set on the internet and found out they are from a line called the Golden Age.
They were produced from the late 40's-50's.  Solid gold, no other adornments.

On the other side of the vase I put another doll and adjusted some of the items my sister had already selected.

Isn't she pretty!
I loved the antique look of these white flowers and thought they went well with the setting.

She received more flowers,  so later on in the day I exchanged the other arrangement with this bunch of gladiolas.

A little closer look at the table cloth

For dinner we took her to a nice Italian themed restaurant and had a great meal.
There was 12 of us.
Sister Sherry (white top) and husband Jim are moving to their new home as I type this today.  Mom's baby sister Virginia is in the black top- she's 84!
Once we were back home we visited for a while and then it was time for her birthday cake!

My sister Jen created the cake!

 She also made extra cupcakes!
We always use the kitchen table like some people use their islands for setting up the food and serving pieces.
We aren't real formal about things!
I had plates made up from the Hallmark
website.

 Time for her gift!
My mom has always had a love for Christmas so we gave her this Dept.56 piece.  It's called Christmas Lane and there is a little train too!  She really enjoyed it so we were all delighted about that!
90 years is a long time! She's doing pretty darn good though.  She still puts on her make-up and loves her jewelry!

More flowers that she received so we had them in the kitchen!
I think it was a great party and she truly seemed happy about it all.
That's really all we wanted for her- to be happy!
Happy Birthday Mom...
With Love,
Liz, Jen, Sherry and Donna
