Gone Plaid for Roosters (T)

I've gone plaid for roosters!

 My centerpiece is a combination of a faux planter of sunflowers (from Pier 1 last year)...

 ...and a MacKenzie  Childs courtly check enameled pedestal platter turned upside down.

I was pleasantly surprised that the pedestal and the flower pot matched in size perfectly!

 I continued with the plaid theme with my napkins drawing on some green found in the pedestal platter.

 Napkin rings from Pier 1 (several years ago) added to the cozy appeal of this table.

 Brunch anyone?

One of my favorite stemware pieces called Trellis (by Fitz & Floyd) seemed perfect for this table setting.

 I kept the dishware simple with a black edged plate (got them from Horchow several years back and they are labeled CMG made in Portugal) layered on top of the Pier 1 chargers and framed by bamboo silverware from Horchow.

 The Backyard Rooster (from April Cornell) features various roosters and a small pompom on each corner.  (They have an oblong on sale for a very reasonable price "here")

As you can see my backyard is in full bloom.  We are enjoying such a great summer up here.

Saturated In The Blues (T)

I love the deep saturated blue colors of this April Cornell tablecloth.

I decided to go heavy on the blues with my dishware as well!

I have a handful of Polish Pottery pieces that I brought to the table.  Salt and Pepper shakers and a creamer for our coffee.

 Last week's tablescape florals are still hanging on but I re-cut them and arranged them in this vase.

I used this "blooming flower brick" that I ordered from The Williamsburg Foundation.  As you can see it has varying sized holes meant to hold larger and smaller flowers and to make arranging easier. 

The roses had begun to look sad so I peeled away the outer layers that had started to brown to freshen them up.   The gerber daisy is pretty much at end of life but the chrysanthemums and carnations are still doing great. 

I spotted the S & P shakers while in Frankenmuth last year.  I think they're really cute and unique.  I used a woven mat to cluster the center arrangement pieces.

One of my first Polish Pottery pieces was this honey pot.  Dan likes to use honey for his coffee instead of refined sugar these days. 

I chose two of my Polish Pottery coffee mugs  with similar colors.  The stemware is LaRochere Napoleon Bee.

This table is a pot-pourri of products.  The blue dishes came from Hobby Lobby with the name Certified Internatinal on the bottom which I layered them on my everyday white (French Countryside) Mikasa dishes. 

I put a lace doily underneath and chose the galvanized tin charger to keep a casual appearance for the breakfast table.

The squared edges of the blue/white plates just happened to pair up well with the white dish design.

This is a square tablecloth with this side having a larger crocheted accent.

This would be great as a topper on a small accent table with perhaps a white table cover underneath.

We've been experiencing a great deal of harsh winter weather like a lot of other people have.  It was only 7º today.  We're used to lots of snow but the extra cold has made the roads more slippery.  Staying indoors is the best option since you can get frostbite in a short time.

I can only stare at this and dream of spring waiting to see life emerge from the earth again!

Rosy endings....

I had some roses still blooming so I decided I had to cut some and enjoy this last bit of summers offerings.

Since they are pink it was a little tricky working them into a fall arrangement.

I still have hydrangeas so I cut a few of them and some stems with leaves for bulk and color.

I cut some leaves of the cordyline spike plants that I have in some containers outside hoping to add a little drama to the arrangement.





I tried to help create more fall tones by using my sunflower vase and my amber stemware.

I did not visualize these little bowls as ever going with my April Cornell placemats. I found the placemats on mark down last spring and the bowls late last winter.  I also was pleased because it helped carry the floral theme from the arrangement.

The table cloth is a ivory colored burlap piece I picked up at Pottery Barn.  I liked the texture for this setting and the napkins I recently acquired had a nice woven texture to them too!

I decided to keep the napkin fold simple and it repeats the straight lines of the bowl and the placemat.  The Mikasa Italian Countryside dishes came in handy again and the new ivory flatware did too!

Since it's a table for two and informal I kept it simple.

My daughter gave me this little Waterford votive

and it makes a nice accent.  I strung the

plastic beads around to add a little color and give it a touch of glam!

 I made a quick little cake
 (some people call them a dump cakes)

It has cherries on the bottom, cake mix, chopped pecans
 and butter.

 I know my husband will be going back for seconds!
