Shuffling Furniture…again

Well it's been a dry spell with me leaving my furniture in the same place!  I had to disrupt the dry spell and shuffle things around again.
The sofa was on an angle where the red chair is now and the recliners were split and on both sides of the room.

I'm working on hubby about moving the tv over to the wall on the right side of the room between two windows.  I know it actually makes furniture placement a little more difficult but I'd like not to see the tv so easily.  I have had it in at least 4 different spots in this room in the past.  The hardest part is going under the house to move the wiring over to the new location.

The tv would go where the striped cabinet is now and that cabinet would move across the room to the opposite wall.  For now it stays- if it happens it would likely be after the holidays.
In the meantime I put my conservatory/lantern over on the striped chest.   I never for a minute thought would work there but I gave it a try and I like it.

This chest had been sitting behind the sofa like a sofa table but I got tired of the way it blocked the room as seen "here".

I do have a little plan to add/change it up a bit for fall but I will go back to this look after the holidays because I really like it.

The sun made an appearance so of course I had to take a picture.  We've been getting a lot of rain and not much sun so I felt lucky to see this.

I ended up setting this up with family pictures.  It's a game table and I have to chairs for it but they don't tuck under which would have worked much better.  Anyway for now this is what I have here.

My little bit of bling.  I dug out one of my glass risers.  I love this piece from Pier 1.

The wing-back recliners are back together again.

An early evening shot.

Spring Tweaking around the house Cont'd

I had this tray on the dining table through Easter.  I decided to give it a try on the cabinetry top area that divides the two rooms.

Instead of using candles I decided to try books inside the lantern.  The brass candlesticks are from many years ago when Macy's took over our Hudson's store.   They had a neat little area with decorating stuff.  They seem to work well with so much I'm glad I picked them up.  Until recently they were on the fireplace mantel which is still quite plain after Easter and I can't decide what I want to do with it.

I dropped in a boxwood ball for added interest.

I found the books at a little decorator store in the Grand Rapids area.  I could've gone nuts in there if my wallet was big enough.

I also found this sphere there.  She had three sizes but I couldn't make my mind up which one to choose so I went with the smallest one.

I love elephants and this one made it over here too.  Trying for a whole new look on this cabinet top area.  The candle is few years old too and came from Pottery Barn.

I wanted something to fill the end up and spotted my little cachepot in the closet so I loaded it up with some of my little spheres.  That covered dish came from Ethan Allen a while back when I got that big portrait picture that's above the mantel.  Same with the lamp next to it.  Best deals I ever got from them because our store was closing.  I heard another one may be coming back- that would be awesome!

This is the cabinetry that was created for the room when we added on in 1996.  That's why I created Dan's spot with the chair when I redid the room layout as shown "here".  The lamp and the book stack are the only things that were on top before.

This is my favorite thing to do- mix up what I already have and get a whole new look from it!

Glass Candle Corner Evolution

Hey check out the Cloche Party @
http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/2011/03/welcome-to-spring-cloche-party.html

Sat. the 12th..

Do you beat a subject into the ground?
I know I do!  I've been playing with this
corner theme since Christmas.
You see...I have a thing for these glass
candle holders...I started with a few
probably 8 years ago, and kept adding
on since then. On and off they've
appeared in my decorating.
After Christmas when I had found a
couple more pieces that I used during
the holidays I decided to create a cluster
in this corner on the cabinet.
First I'm showing the end result...then
I'll walk you through
my evolution of changes!
The following picture is where I was at with it right after Christmas
I borrowed these pictures from another room..
Previously there were two pictures of
my kids that I have relocated
These two pictures have been floating looking for a new
spot for a little while now- but I was sure they wouldn't fit
here but to my surprise they did!
I messed around with the arrangement, trying
different candles to see what would show
up best...
Then I decided to get these green candles
to pull the green that's in the background
of the print (which you can't really see here)
I figured continuity was the way to go...
plus the decorative candles with the gold
on them actually have that green in
the design too
I set a gold frame near it just to see if I
liked that too
So I ordered this glass cloche from Wisteria...
and really didn't have a plan for where
it was to go, but I decided to set it in
with this group, and
I liked it right away
Something is gnawing at me, I know I need
to marry the cloche with something
and the dark color in the wood
candle holders seems
like the way to go...soooo
I found this charger on discount at
Pier 1 Imports
where the candle holders had come from
and I was very happy with the
size and color..
I really didn't know what to put inside, so
I wandered aimlessly at Michaels
and found this little silk arrangement
and then I saw these green rocks
and thought what the heck
maybe this will work!
So this is what I ended up with....what
do you think?
At a distance
I am stubborn and I don't give
up on a subject when I get
going on it!
Perhaps this whole arrangement is a
bit eclectic, but that's ok -right?
This has always been a spot in my room
that stumps me as to what to do with
it...It's had many faces
You see I already tweaked it since yesterday!

Le Manteau Cont'd

Playing around some more with my mantel....I think I like this look the best....
I borrowed the brass candlesticks from the chest of drawers and moved the small picture I had on there over to the chest.....

Frames I found at T.J. Maxx...sometimes you gotta love that store!

Stick around for my ongoing tweaking!

Please leave your comments I do appreciate them!
