Thanksgiving for two!

It's going to be a quiet Thanksgiving for two of us so I've
accepted the idea and pulled this together for our table.
I wanted it a bit rustic and for it to embrace the colors of the season.

As you can see I've reused my Pottery Barn inspired centerpiece that
I made in September shown here,  and here.
I decided to try the soup tureen in the center (it barely fit).  I may just tuck my pumpkin pie inside of it just for fun! I mixed several pieces from different manufactuers and layered heavily!

White Pumpkins and Warm Fall Tones

Last week I created my Centerpiece Harvest Basket and this week I dressed out the table to go with it!

My goal was to create a blend with the popular white look I'm seeing everywhere this year and the rich fall harvest
tones of the season!

Ozzie (formerly Mr. Owl) greets you!
He's a looker isn't he!!

My basket is a blend of rusty orange pumpkins, white pumpkins, gourds, faux leaves, berries and straw.

I played on the white pumpkins with my white dishes.

I chose these chargers because of their leaf pattern and with the rust napkins they help ground the warm fall tones!

The white flatware balances the white plates...the stitched gold leaf patterned placemats add to the rich harvest tones!

A few adornments...and some amber colored drinkware

My cute bird on the acorn was a find at Hobby Lobby...the candle holder was from One King's Lane last winter. I like their rustic look which is ideal for these fall days.

Ozzie and I thank you for visiting!

I hope you liked my blend of white and warm fall tones!

Country Casual Dining

A casual dinner with warm country character!

I borrowed my big metal pumpkin from a previous
arrangement and incorporated it into
my table setting.  My tablecloth was
from T.J. Maxx and has cutouts of pumpkins
and leaves.

I like that it keeps with my theme
on the table!
I love this pumpkin, it's going to be
a keeper for me for a long time!

I used a wired basket under the pumpkin.
I took a leafy garland and wrapped
it around the base and wired it to
the basket. The I placed a wood pedestal
in the center to set the pumpkin on.
It's a little big for my small table but
I like the fullness it added.

Without real planning I was tickled when
I realized the leaves on my new stemware
from T.J. Maxx complimented the
leaves on the garland!
The dishes were stacked on my new rattan
chargers. I chose them because I wanted the relaxed
country feeling! I chose these plaid napkins
(made by Park Designs)
to continue the country casual theme!
The napkin rings are from Pier 1 Imports.
Since they are a flower shape I felt
they added to the theme!
These salad plates are from
Cracker Barrel, there
are four colors. I
got these along with
four matching coffee mugs
on one of their sales.
For some reason the green plates look pale
in these photos, but they are a yellow green
and went well with the dishes.

These dinner plates are made by
Park Designs out of the
Village Collection
they have a soft ruffled edge.
Getting close to dinner time!

Candles are lit and some wine is poured
time to eat!
Things always look more cozy in candlelight!

I've got decaf coffee to go with dessert
and wine to go with the meal.

For Dinner
I've made a modified lasagna using
rigatoni noodles.
First I boiled a pound of rigatoni noodles.
(I only used about 3/4 of them for the recipe,
you could use all of them if you have more
spaghetti sauce- otherwise it wll be too dry)
I lightly browned a pound of
Italian Sausage from the grocer.
I drained the grease and
added a 24 oz. jar of Spaghetti Sauce.
I heated it gently.
In an oblong casserole dish,
(not quite a 9 x 13 but close)
I layered the sauce with sausage, noodles,
and dollops of ricotta cheese here and there.
I added thin slices of Turkey Pepperoni-
then sprinkled some grated Parmesan cheese
and a modest layer of shredded Mozzarella.
I built it in 4 layers.
I baked it covered with foil at 350 for 30 min. then
removed the top for a bit (10 to 15 min).
I served thick slices of bakery sourdough
Italian bread!
YUM!!
My salad was a package of
Italian Mix of Greens, thin slices of red onion,
dried cherries, sliced almonds and topped with
shredded mozzarella cheese.
I used Marzetti's Sweet Italian Dressing
and it was so so good!
I lucked out and the bakery department
had a delicious Italian Creme Cake
that turned out to be a terrific dessert!

I hope to be back with one more tablescape
for Thanksgiving!  In the meantimeI give thanks for all my new friends out there in blog land!
Thank-you for stopping by and I hope to see you come back soon!

Peonies and Bling

I'm a little obsessed with the Peonies at this point!
Of course it's not hard to love them!
I brought one in that still had more opening to do and put it in with some Lilacs and Violas
 This smelled really good!
 Didn't last long though!
This is where my peonies are...out front on my island in front of the house.  We live near a busy road so we put this island in many years ago to help cut down some noise and joined it with the big blue spruce tree that was growing there.
There are some red ones behind these pinks that will be blooming soon.
The purple Salvia is blooming real nice and the Hardy Geraniums too!
On the other side of the island is this a John Franklin Shrub Rose that is just starting to bloom.  So far the rose chafer's haven't gotten to it yet.  They can munch this plant and destroy it in a couple of days.  They seem to come on when it gets hottest.  We've been having some rather comfortable weather so everything is still safe!
This is a metal plant stand holder that I have a metal oval shaped bucket hanging from with annuals planted in it.  Asparagus Fern and New Guinea Impatiens
I added some bling to it! See the bumble bee!  Found these at Cracker Barrel!  They are for indoors but I've adopted them to the outside!
This is my other plant stand with more bling! This one has Swedish Ivy and Begonias (I didn't realize it matched my Hostas so much!)
See the Dragonfly! More bling!

I hope your gardens are growing well too!
