White Pumpkins and Warm Fall Tones

Last week I created my Centerpiece Harvest Basket and this week I dressed out the table to go with it!

My goal was to create a blend with the popular white look I'm seeing everywhere this year and the rich fall harvest
tones of the season!

Ozzie (formerly Mr. Owl) greets you!
He's a looker isn't he!!

My basket is a blend of rusty orange pumpkins, white pumpkins, gourds, faux leaves, berries and straw.

I played on the white pumpkins with my white dishes.

I chose these chargers because of their leaf pattern and with the rust napkins they help ground the warm fall tones!

The white flatware balances the white plates...the stitched gold leaf patterned placemats add to the rich harvest tones!

A few adornments...and some amber colored drinkware

My cute bird on the acorn was a find at Hobby Lobby...the candle holder was from One King's Lane last winter. I like their rustic look which is ideal for these fall days.

Ozzie and I thank you for visiting!

I hope you liked my blend of white and warm fall tones!

Garden Tea Party

Tablescape ThursdayWith summer's end nearing I decided it was time for a garden party...most of my flowers are still blooming nicely and the temperatures are perfect- It's time!

(I also just realized that today is my 2 year anniversary with blogging! I've come a long way since then!)

Please join me

I set up my table on our patio...
A feminine summery table was my goal...

  Let's look at the details....
The tablecloth is by Vera (not Vera Wang)
I fell in love with the colors and the artistically designed flowers ....doesn't this just say summer!
The flowers are a combination of my Limelight hydrangeas, some very large dahlias and sunflowers that my daughter brought home from the farmers market...

The candlesticks I chose are are cut glass
with a pair of candles I bought at Yellowstone
National Park in 1979...Yep 1979...I didn't really
need candles but I like the flair it gives a table!

We went out there on a delayed honeymoon and I couldn't afford much but I was intrigued with these dried flowers encased on the wax candles and have kept them ever since... I slipped a napkin ring holder around the base to jazz them up...

I used my green stemware to add to the profusion of color I wanted to on this table.

My goose statues made an appearance too!

The salad bowls helped punch up the color
a bit more  and I dressed up the napkins with two napkin rings like a pair of bracelets!

I folded the napkins to showcase the pearl like beads...

I layered some my favorite pink German dessert glass plates on top of the floral china pattern.  I used my gold flatware to pick up on the gold edge of the china

Plain white dinner plates with a softly scalloped edge were my first layer...

These Spode salad plates help carry the summery look with their bouquets of flowers

I softened their look with these pink glass dessert plates I've had for a long time.

I waited for the late afternoon sun to
cast it's glow....

It's 4 o'clock and the bell has rung...let's begin!

I glad you could join me for my garden tea party
and I hope we can do it again!

Things I used:
Spode Meadowbrook China
German etched glass dessert plates (from a catalog purchase in the late 90's)
Salad bowls are by Maxcera , Group Floral
The plain white dishes say Palm Restaurant on the back, Home Goods purchase
Green Swirl Goblets glasses were called Roma, purchased from One Kings Lane
Gold flatware by Wallace called Euro Beads, purchased from Neiman Marcus
White napkins from Pier One Imports
Tablecloth from Macy's

New office!

I've decided to move my desk out of the living room and put it in a small bedroom that I'm converting to an office.
This is the small bedroom I'm adopting (previously my daughters room).  I redid it a few years ago with this new bedding ensemble from Kohls.  It was a Spanish inspired print (the blue print looks like Spanish tiles up close) and the terracotta quilt and pillows inspired me to paint the room this color which is called "Soft Marigold" by Benjamin Moore.  My daughter is the only one who has used it when she comes home for a visit, but now a days that's only a few times a year.  Hence the reason I'm taking it over!

This is my kidney shaped desk and chair I got a year ago.  I took this picture moments after it arrived!
The chair is kind of a cranberry red and that's not going to be changed. I love it dearly and it's real comfortable!
The two lampshades will be in the room and I've been examining different whites to use for the room.  I'm very wishy washy about it.
For instance I saw these pictures with Benjamin Moore's Davenport Tan.
I love the drama of the color and I know it would be rich with my red chair and the desk. It's such a small room I'm debating whether it's wise to go with such a deep color.
This picture represents another color I'm looking at called Linen White, but it has a hint of yellow and I'm not so sure I want to do that.
This one is called Moonlight White and when I put the sample of it near the new white lamp it really has the right tone in it.
This wall color is called White Chocolate and I really like it too, it's on the same card as the one above and they both could work.

My new lamps inspired me to go for a little lighter modern look so this light wall color has been my focus, but the drama queen in me also likes that dark color I showed above!
I took this picture with no natural light and with two lamps on and it made the room look orange!  We took a large piece of cardboard and laid it on top of the desk, traced it and cut it out so I could set it in the room and get a feel for it.
The 4th color down on the card is the Davenport Tan color but I am pretty sure my hubby will look at me quite cross eyed if I show him that one!
I bought the curtains on the left at Pier 1 and then I went into Bed Bath & Beyond and found the other pair which I think is going to be the winner now!
I found this at T.J. Maxx yesterday and snatched it up.   I love the picture but I don't think it's got the right vibe!

These are both from Pier 1 and I'm seriously considering one or the other.
This one has a truer red and I do like the
colors in it.
This one has a muted red almost rust but I really liked the painting the best.  In person it has hints of gold that catch the eye with reflection.

We have a ways to go on the prepping and painting and the new carpet will be in next week.  Once that's done things will move along quickly!

So that's my project for now and I'm pretty wrapped up in it!

As always, Thanks for stopping by!

Italianate Mantel

My new Angels and Nativity
combined made for a very
Italianate design.  Along with
the cathedral styled mirrored
screen it all came together
and created a beautiful
vignette
I used the command hooks
on the mantel and used a wire
to loop around it and the garland
to hold it tight to the front edge.

The angels are sitting on a
wreath to give them some
height and hide the base
I added some flowers to enrich
 the look of the garland
I love this nativity- it's simplicity
says it all
I added these leaves by slipping
them behind the mirror and
a gold beaded garland to
add some body
The tree is a 9 ft. pencil tree
which fit in very nicely and
I didn't have to fight for a
spot to set it.
I used coppery brown and gold
ornaments along with a mix of
angels, stars, chandeliers, finial styled
ornaments and golden icicles
 The chandelier ornaments and angels
were new last year from Macy's-
their early sales were great!
The twinkly star like ornaments were
from Pier 1 Imports last year
These new white and gold ornaments
were from T.J. Maxx this year
The tree topper is a Capiz
Star of Bethlehem
I looked for several years
and finally found this one.
My new tree skirt from an
Etsy purchase
I mentioned in a previous post with
our other tree the quality of these tree
skirts are wonderful and I'm really happy
with their looks.  With such a small profile
tree I wanted a smaller sized tree skirt.
I felt lucky to have found these.  They are
two sided so I can go either way!
I am not being compensated for showing
her link, I'm just sharing info.
Our living room is a multipurpose room.
My desk, a large screen tv, stereo speakers
and a game table are all part of the scene.
This room was an addition to our approx.
1100 sq. ft. home in the 90's. It's roughly
a 20 x 22 room and gave this tiny house
a breath of life it needed.
