Creating Vignettes

 

 

Starting with the kitchen area I played around with some items that I already had here but used them in different spots and added the blue vase and the verdigris water can which I  picked up late last summer from Home Goods. 

 

The Fleurs tray was down below before and could hardly be seen so I tried making a vignette related to flowers.  The rooster is just there because he's white!

 

It's a real watering can and I was enamored with it but it took until now for me to decide how to use it.

 

My husband bought this blue vase for me from Terrain which we got to visit while in Pennsylvania. 

 

Down below I moved my copper items.

 

I tried a whole new look on the mantel.  I'm still deciding if I like it but everything coordinates nicely.

 

This is a new planter I got for Christmas.  I set the arrangement (that previousy has been in front of the picture) down inside and it fit. 

 

You can see the floral arrangement i'm talking about.

 

This was ordered from The Enchanted Home.  I always buy my stuff from them when there is a sale.

 

This vase was my moms and she bought it while visiting me in Chicago when I lived there (1978-79).  I think it's Japanese but I'm not positive.

And finally I created this vignette with the bulk of my blue and white porcelain. 
 

 

These three Chinese men referred to as Elegant Sitting Emporers are new and also came from The Enchanted Home.

This blue plate is also from my Mom's and was a gift I gave her from Marshall Fields when I lived in Chicago.  The big jar I bought and is one of my favorites.

 

This plate was also Mom's and mixes well with my porcelain pieces.

Fall On The Dining Table

 

 

I combined my blue and white porcelain with some fall tones.

 

I mixed some Wheat and Dahlias to add a little wow factor!

 

This MacKenzie Childs pumpkin cart holds another MC pumpkin on top of it.  I've been recycling these pieces for several years.

Easter in the Kitchen 2022

 

 

Hello everyone!  I've decided to go ahead and put some Easter decorating up in the kitchen area. I've used the rabbits and tree before but this time I decided to add some floral and foliage to the scene.

 

I recently went up to Petoskey to my favorite floral and decorative elements store called Monarch.   I picked up the little blue and white planter and faux violas.

 

I love this planter and know I'll get a lot of use out of it.  I also have on order some new curtains for the slider which is to the right. 

 

The bunnies are made by Fitz and Floyd, Poppies.  I've had them for many years. The blue and white egg is from Marshall's.  I bought three (each different) on line because we don't have a Marshall's.  They are made in Turkey.

 

I got the tree from the Hallmark store probably 5 years ago.  The eggs are from Pier 1 from several years back too (when they still had a store!).  The runner is new from Home Goods, I'll be able to use it for a good while!

 

I'm delighted to look at this and feel there is hope for spring to come!  We are currently getting a snow storm with 6" of fresh snow.  

 

I decorated the tray that I often have on the credenza.  I wasn't intending on this but it started when I set the tray over here and the wood top by the stairs, then I set the two potted tulips just to see if I'd like it. I was working on the carrots in a terracota pot and it went on from there!  

I like cute displays, what can I say!

 

These rabbits were also from Pier 1 back a while, I sure do miss their stores.  That big fat rabbit always makes me laugh!

 

Well that's all I've done so far! 

A Stroll Down the Easter Parade!

 

 

I'm starting my Easter decorating with a parade! 

 

This was last year's find, an FAO Schwarz bicycle with bunnies!

 

I found another this year that I couldn't resist!  The tall Easter bunny was from last year and has a nice basket in the back.

 

 

An Easter egg tree with hand painted eggs.  I believe the tree and eggs came from Pier 1 a while back.  I do miss the store.

 

These three young bunnies will soon be carrying out duties like their parents, delivering Easter eggs!

 

I got this bunny this year.  Loved the violas!

 

She's actually a cookie jar but I wanted her as a statue so she is!

 

Love the pretty painted eyes.  The pair is from Fitz & Floyd from many years ago from a group called Poppies.

 

Her eyes are pretty too!  From Home Goods.

This and That This Week #16

The sun is shining and as I came down the halllway I noticed it was highlighting my yellow roses!  I popped in some pussy willows too!

A little bit of sunshine does a long way here!

I picked up a wreath from Home Goods that I like and put it on the inside of the door.

It's simple but one of those you can put just about anywhere!  I was drawn to the black and white striped ribbon too!

On the other side of the door I already put up a spring wreath.  I got it from JoAnn's (on-line) at discount, and in this case it looks better than their image!  I wanted something noticeable from the outside and this one also has anemone's which are very early spring flowers!

Last Saturday I had a delivery.  While he was backing out another driver coming down the road panicked and slid across the end of our driveway and hit the van straight in the middle.  Everyone was okay but it sure did mess up her van.

This is a view from my neighbors house that she sent me.  We were so lucky that they didn't run into our big blue spruce and missed the mailbox too!  The police were directing traffic.

It's been in the upper 40's and the snow is really melting.  They are predicting an early spring for us!

My son Ryan and Grandson Joey came for a week to visit so I was busy with that all week! 

He's 4 and so rambunctious! 

Grandpa took him for some sledding fun on the driveway!  This was earlier in the week before we started melting down.  Now the driveway is clear!

Inside another set of Amaryllis is blooming.  I decided to plant more to have a continuation of the blooms!

These are called Purple Rain.  They aren't purple but pretty just the same!  You can see my Thanksgiving Cactus in the background is just about to put on a show too!

I like the veining they have.  Perhaps that was the "rain" part to their name.
