Winter Woodland Plate Rack

Well of course one of my favorite play spots for decorating is my plate rack so I got to it as soon as I could.

I knew I wanted to re-use the little potted cedar trees from Pier 1 that I had out at Christmas.  I had picked up some plates from there too with a deer sporting a huge rack/tree branches with cute little birds!  I was going to remove the bells on the tin pots but they wired them with the bow so for now I'm leaving them.

The cream colored pitcher was a gift from hubby- It's by Juliska- Thread and Berry Beehive.  We found it on a markdown on a trip so he was encouraged to buy it- I kept saying "you have to have something to give me for Christmas!"
The little birds joined the scene to be part of this winter woodland scene.

I stacked these pine cones in the bowl that I've been saving for a few years.  I brought them back from Pennsylvania on one of our trips to see the kids.

Years back I found the dinner plates at Cracker Barrel.  They reminded me of the Juliksa Thread and Berry pattern and that was one reason I was drawn to them.  I got a kick out of the design on these salad plates last fall at Pier 1.   I decided to save them for January.

I haven't come up with much for an idea for down below on the little table so for now this is what's there.  The lantern was sold during the holidays at Pier 1 but I figured it didn't have to be limited to that time period.  I stuck a bird in there for now.  Needs some fluff.

That's as far as I've gotten.  The etagere is still in process.  My engine is in low gear!

Had to include some more pictures of the amaryllis...
She's quite the tall lady!
Pretty!  A third stem came up and is close to blooming.  I will have enjoyed a whole month worth of blooms from this bulb- which I think is quite a good deal!  The sun is out today- hooray!!

  1. Love the plates! The pinecones and little trees make a beautiful vignette for a winter scene. Happy New Year!

  2. I like everything about your vignette. The pitcher. The plates. The trees. Lovely! Sheila

  3. I am such a fan of plate racks and hutches. I love the woodland theme and your gorgeous plates. The black makes it all so elegant and the greenery and pinecones makes it rustic. Lovely combination!

  11. Oh I love this. Bells and burlap bow included. The plates are too precious and you just gave me a brilliant idea to not throw the pine cones dear husband and dear daughter picked for my Christmas' Decor.
Always a Joy to visit and enjoy your settings.
I love Winter and you must have a very privileged view from every nook of your home. You're blessed.

  16. You've created a lovely winter vignette in your plate rack - the black background makes everything pop and I enjoy seeing how you decorate it for the different seasons. The cedar trees and pine cones in the white bowl look perfect together and those plates are so fun - good call to save them for January décor. Love the pitcher too!

  17. I love the plates and how you decorated your plate rack Liz, a fresh bloom is just the perfect icing for a beautiful display like yours!
