Here Comes the Sun!

It's always such a joy to see the sun coming up over the horizon especially after a difficult couple of days weather wise.
24 hours earlier white-outs and blizzard like conditions overtook the area.
I guarantee Valentine's Day was a bust at the restaurants around here!

The thermometer was as -12 degrees this morning.
Creaking sounds come from the woods as the trees adjust to the extreme temps.

The birds were even reluctant to come to the feeders but as the sun rose more and more they all started showing up.  I tried to capture some pictures through my windows- I'm staying inside!

The Beatle's tune "Here Comes the Sun" always pops up in my mind on days like this.

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say it's all right….

Looking out my office window as I tapped away at this post.
The day is looking promising!

  1. Beautiful photos, also the one of the blizzard!
The last one is my favourite, it has wonderful colours!
Have a sunny week ahead! :)

  2. Snow looks so gentle and serine and you have captured this so well with your photos. The reality is a different thing though isn't it and can be so frustrating! Over this side of the pond we have it so easy however just a little dusting seems to grind us to a halt :-) Take care x

  3. Liz, how beautiful that sun is peeking through the tall trees, trying to reach your window.

    Have a lovely, sunny week!

  4. Glad you have some sun. We do, too! I am so sick of the snow and cold. Your photos are beautiful though-even if it is cold looking. xo Diana

  5. Hello Liz
It looks like a wonderland to me - but then it's 'Summertime here and the livin' is easy' to quote the lovely George Gershwin song!
The sun shining through the silhouette of branches is beautiful.
I've become a follower again - when I did a blog makeover, some time ago now, I lost all the blogs I was following..... yes it's been a mission getting things back in order!

  6. Liz the sun after a storm is always full of promise. Beautiful photos. I like the cardinal sitting on the feeder. Have a wonderful week.

  7. Horrible weather, but wonderful pictures!
I like the light and shadows, my favorite is the pic of the birdfeeder.
Have a lightful and warmer new week

  8. Wonderful serene white winter photos, I love to see them but I do not envy you, brrrrr. Wonderful birds in your birdfeeder. Hope it will be a bit warmer soon.

  9. Hi Liz, I love your pictures even though they show how cold it is there. I am saying to myself today...February is half over, so spring is close by. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  10. Love that song. Your wintery photos are very pretty. I especially liked the last shot of the trees. I don't blame you though for enjoying the sunshine from the inside.

  11. Beautiful shot of the suns shining through the trees.

  12. Now you have got that song stuck in my head.

  13. Indeed the sun is glorious - and the snow beautiful.

  14. Sunshine, snow, and The Beatles... Lovely photos and good music...wonderful! Smiles..Susan

  15. Hi Liz, Beautiful pics of your snowy garden. Love the sweet little cardinal sitting in your feeder.
The Beatles tune goes perfectly with your post. I'll be singing that song all day now!!
    Stay warm inside.
    Hugs, CM

  16. Oh I love seeing the sun after a tough few snowy cold days....we had to cancel our Valentine's Day plans.

  17. While the snow is very pretty, it certainly does keep people indoors. :))

  18. I have the old Beatles song playing in my head now, although nighttime and snowflakes have fallen. I always think you have the prettiest view from your house!
