A Table of Many Faces

I was inspired by this picture from my new issue of House Beautiful magazine
to make a change with my entryway table.
I decided to enlarge my table  so it could hold a better arrangement of things.
I already owned a 38" glass top that we weren't using any longer so I laid it on top of the 30" top of this table and it helped immensely.

I simply re-used things that I already had on the table and added the box
on the right and a couple of magazines below the faux book/box.  I angled them like in the picture and added flowers to the vase that I centered like in the picture. I already had the candle holder but mine is much taller.  My burlap tablecloth is too short now and I need to figure out what to do with it.  I could add a band of color below or something like that.

I did try it with a white candle but it looses something.

I'm keeping extra votive size candles and holders in the box.  Mixing the different scents in one box ends up to be a treat- it smells so good to open it up!

This votive is all glass with an interesting finish on it.  The brilliant gold is so reflective it looks like it has a candle lit in it all the time.  The dark exterior makes it look like it's metal.

I've showed this table many times with different arrangements
some much better than others!
As you can see adding the extra 8" made a difference
My table still isn't as big as the inspiration photo but I'm real happy with the extra size I gained by adding the glass top.
This is one of those compressed board tables I ordered from Ballard Designs a few years ago.  It has room underneath to hide a few things which comes in real handy!

  4. Beautiful vignette, Liz!

I have used this trick before...even using a round on top of a plant stand to create a table!!

  5. Think that lil extra table space made quite a difference and think your vignette and the whole corner looks
really great. Don't you love being able to shop the house and make it looks so different.
    Spells fun for me!! lol

  6. It's amazing and so rewarding to recreate vignettes from magazines and you did a superb job in changing the look of your entry table. You mentioned that your burlap tablecloth is not long enough now. You could add a "ruffle" and attach by tuck and folds (ironing) instead of gathers to look like the one in the picture. Just a thought.

  8. Liz,
    Elegantly done, dear friend!!!
    I love the burlap cloth!
Your arrangement far exceeds the inspirational photo from the House Beautiful Magazine!
I think a band of "chocolate" brown on the bottom would be stunning!!!

  12. Great idea Liz, those extra inches really make a difference. As you said, now you can display more items and also have great storage, hiding underneath.

  16. Yup, it's like they always say: Size DOES matter! :-) What a difference!!! I like this new size AND the new decor! If you don't want to sew anything onto the bottom of your burlap cloth, just use a 108" tablecloth underneath the burlap, It will puddle just a bit which will make it even more dramatic!

  19. Hello Dear!
I believe if rulers of the world knew the revolution a House Beautiful Mag could start they would forbid it ahahahah
It is so nice to have these nooks one can play with forever. I love the items and when you mention the scent I can almost feel it from this side of Atlantic - something fresh, earthy with a touch of vanilla. I'm thinking that a taller candle - that natural color exactly - would be even better. If I know you you'll start changing the candle and soon we'll have a new nook by the door ;)
    Enjoy,
    T

  23. Your table looks great and I like the burlap table cloth. I got Hubby to enlarge a similar table I have in the family room. Doesn't it make a difference? A glass top is such a good idea.
