Snow overload....

Snow, snow, snow, snow, snow!!
This is the result of what we call Lake Effect snow around these parts!  I did not pay attention to the weather forecast last night and was surprised to see this when I woke this morning.

It is quite calm and quiet...
That's our deck furniture covered
with a tarp for the winter.

The birds will be active on the feeders soon.
All the feeders have new roofs this morning!

Standing by my kitchen table looking through the slider doors you can see a blanket of snow has been working it's way down the roof line...

It grew a lot last night so it's going to have to be removed before
one of us gets it on the head!

I tip-toed out on the deck in my PJ's and slippers to take a few shots...

Hey, one good thing about winter (if you're a woman) you can cool off those
hot flashes quickly by opening the door!

Pretty cool...in more ways than one!
It was all of 7 degrees out this morning.

As I said it has to be removed.  Hubby went out to start cleaning all of this off the deck before he got on the tractor to snow blow the driveway.  I asked if he wanted help but he said no....so I oblidged!  LOL... I do go out and clear the deck frequently though since it's our way in and out.

Dan estimates we got about 10" last night.

About 2 hrs later...daylight. My view out my office window.

To keep me from going stir crazy!
This past weekend I started moving furniture (again)I'm waiting for a bright enough day to take some good photos without a flash or interior lighting.  Don't worry this is not finished...just a beginning.

Working on my dining table and mantel too!

Thanks for visiting! Stay warm, or cold, whichever you prefer!

  1. You took some great pix. I always admire everyone else's snow! We may get some on Friday, who knows how much. Started out with estimates of 8 inches, now it is down to a dusting or 2 - 3 inches. Ay yay yay. xo

  2. Liz,
That's a lot of snow, wow 10". It is pretty to look at though. I haven't seen snow like that (in person) for years. Where we live there might be a little snow each year, nothing guaranteed.

  3. Oh Liz, you did an awesome job with the winter photography, wow!! I love snow and I saw it last 2 years ago when I went on a cruise through the south of Argentina..it was full with that gorgeous, cold, white stuff! Inside your house looks warm and beautiful, though. Thanks for your sweet comment on my huge set of dishes. Enjoy your weekend.

  4. Wow, You did get a lot of snow! The snow hanging off the roof looks like an awning. I love the photo of the bird feeders with their new roofs.

  5. Hi Liz, love your snow pictures! I grew up in Minnesota so I love the look of all that white. We're having rain today and this weekend in Phoenix so it's time to put on a fire. Take care.

  6. Liz
It's so beutiful! I think you have the same amount of snow as us.
    I'm staying inside too!

  7. Wow, Liz, that is alot of snow. It's beautiful. Makes me want to bundle up and sit in front of the fire.
    Your room looks so pretty.

  8. Wow!!!!! I can't even begin to imagine how cold that is!! You're a brave woman to go out under that snow because I'm sure as soon as I walked out there it would all slide down and bury me alive. Love the feeder and your room looks so warm and cozy - I sure hope it is!! Stay warm and safe! And fix Dan some hot chocolate!

  9. We got snow over night too but not as much as you! I didn't watch the forecast either and like you was really surprised!

  10. I just can't even begin to imagine going out in this!!! Oh, my goodness!!! It has (mercifully!) been a LONG time since the Kansas City area got snow like this! It's so pretty, but my goodness....there's just so much of it!!!!!!!!!!!! You're getting the much-needed moisture for your grass and stuff, though, so hooray for that. Everything here is going to be brown and crispy. :-(

  11. Liz- I LOVE your pictures-they are magical. We get the lake effect snow here, too, and are supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow-ugh- xo Diana

  12. Like you said it’s really nice to wake in the morning and see a blanket of snow covered in the front yard. The pictures were awesome and it was so lovely.

  13. Liz, what beautiful pictures! I love the way everything looks so calm and quiet. It is amazing for us to see this. Yesterday we reached 78 degrees. I think winter is over in Texas! :)

  14. Liz, so pretty in pictures but so much work to deal with. I love the action shots too. They sure are beautiful. My niece called and complained about 78 in San Antonio. I said I would swap houses and she could have 16 degrees here!

Thank you for your comments! I don’t always get a chance to reply but I do read them!
