Merry Christmas to All!

I'll start in the kitchen with my hot cocoa area. I've got a collection of mugs from Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma and a couple that were made up for us by a friend.

A MacKenzie Childs cookie jar bought late last year. This area gets used a lot!

I set up a gingerbread village near the kitchen dining area.

I got my pieces from Home Goods, QVC and Hobby Lobby.

The two nutcrackers were ordered on-line late last year.

Heading to the living room some more MacKenzie Childs and a forest of trees!

The candles in the antlers have timers in them so they're automatic everyday, which I like.

Santa's car has lights, so cute!

I created a wall of trees behind everything to help prevent my 8 mos. old kitten from knocking everything off! So far it's working!

You can see the dining table tray I set up through the trees.

A lantern from the Old Pier One store (before they closed). A candle ring surrounds the red candle and two golden candles help surround the lantern. Tablecloth from Home Goods last year. The placemats may have come from Kohls several years ago.

Out in the living room I created a village setting with a new cottage and reindeer.

The cottage is made by Cody Foster and the reindeer are from Germany that I found at Home Goods. I couldn't resist the cutness of the cottage!

This is the 8 mos. old kitten, Charley. He poses well!

On our coffee table. I did the same arrangement last year. The santa is a Bethany Lowe I got a a neat little store in Rochester, MI where I grew up. The reindeer were found in Petoskey, MI at a boutique store up there.

In the living room, the mantel. Santa is surrounded with Nutcrackers, trees, and reindeer with lots of ornaments. He's checking his list and they are patiently waiting.

Never Say I'm Satisfied!

Recently I posted and showed my living room and this is how the mantel looked. I said I left the mantel the same because I was satisfied with it. Well....

I got a bun on to make a change. I played with different ginger jars and finally came up with this.

I finally decided on this ginger jar and also brought in the plate to add more blue. I wanted my color theme to be more prominent.

This ginger jar is a lot smaller than the other, but I brought over the smaller jar I had on the right side. I think they make a nice pairing.

This plate is part of my mom's collection and it dawned on me that I had the gold plate holder being used somewhere else so I grabbed it. The gold picks up on the picture frame.

I love shopping my house!

I'm pleased with the variance of texture, shapes and colors. What do you think!

We are getting hit hard, today's high was 15º and it's been snowing too. We've been having it fairly easy so I guess Old Man Winter finally decided it was our time!

Now what else can I find to swap out somewhere else!

Living Room Jan.2021

I've left the mantel the same because I'm satisfied with it. The coral/orange centerpiece was created for me by a gentleman who owns a store up north of us called Monarch Garden & Floral. I did a post about it "here". The big ginger jar is again from The Enchanted Home and I carried the blue with a small blue jar. I'm mixing the coral/orange with blue which is through the room.

Last fall we picked up a couple of new chairs and I sold my two wing back recliners. We managed to get them at a fraction of their cost because the store was closing and liquidating.

This is the other chair, it's motorized and sooo comfy!

I picked up the pillow at Home Goods, I couldn't resist it. It really doesn't go with my Asian theme but I loved it right off and knew it would go with this chair. He looks like a British Captain so we'll just say that he is traveling to Asia!

Sun floods the room and is always appreciated during the winter months!

The coffee table got a new tray and the acryllic bird piece. The elephant was from a furniture store a while back. It had no brand name on it so I couldn't find out more about it.

They are both Tonkinese, which is a siamese and burmese mix. The look a lot like siamese but with a rounder head.

Greening Up For Spring

Since the portrait over the fireplace plays a dominate role in this room I decided to play up the green coloring a bit more.

I've added a few bits of green here and there and a couple of different deco accents- most of which I already had in my stash which is always fun!

I wanted something lighter in color to perk up the sofa.

The green pillows grabbed my attention because they were the right shade of glreen to work with my room and I liked the botanical theme. I tried some green pillows from Pier 1 but they were way off in
color and the texture just didn't work well with my fabric. I have seen some pretty darn expensive pillows since I started looking- I'm tickled that these were only $19.99 each.

The creamy white and gold pillow had me because of the chevron design.

They have these interesting little yarn patches every so often that I liked and big tassels.

I added a new oyster white velvet pillows and green throws to the recliners.

This also layers well with the sofa pillows.

This was out in the kitchen on the etagere but I decided to bring it back out here again. I love elephants! It's a candle holder but it works with the green boxwood ball too.

I have had a pair of bronze stork statues (from Bombay before they closed in the U.S.) Since I have my sister in-law's art on the wall that focuses on Lake Michigan, beach sand, and grasses I decided to see how the storks would look in the room. I think it's a good tie-in.

I took this picture of a lighthouse near Frankfort, MI 4 years ago called the Point Betsie Lighthouse which adds another level to tie-in with the portrait above the tv. There's a much better picture of it "here" at a previous post.

We chose a little green matting accent when we had the picture framed.

I found these two little green vases and thought I'd give them a try under the tv mixed in with the little stereo speakers.

I'm pleased with the touch of green here and it's coordination to the picture.

This is the other stork that goes with the first one I showed. I love the graceful stance these storks have. I also just used these in the post just before this one for a tablescape.
