Bathroom Mini-Makeover

I had a nice shower curtain set that I had put in this room but the one thing I never liked is that it was short.  I posted about the curtains and the valance I made for it "here".  I like dressing the tub unit out since it also helps hide some of the less attractive features that come along with the reality of life like soap bottles, etc.

On a different day I had managed to get a shot of the curtain fabric with some good daylight which gives you an idea of what it really looks like.  I liked the linen like texture and embroidered design that it offered.  I also knew it would grab onto the touch of gold in the wall of pictures nearby.
Please check out of the other links I've provided that show a much better view of wall coloring.

The shower curtain liner was a find at T.J. Maxx from Croscill and has a soft tone on tone stripe design.  I had bought it on a whim and tucked it away and was happy to finally use it.

These were ordered from Bed Bath & Beyond (called Wellington- comes in various colors) and they are offered in 4 lengths.  With the set up I already had I went with the 84" length and it worked out much better than my previous ones.
Last winter I ordered a new tissue box and wastebasket with the French Bee design on it.  After I hung the new shower curtains I realized that they both had that same diamond shaped design on the!  The wire wall basket was featured last year in this post "here"

I wanted something more lightweight than the previous ceramic ones I had.
My old brass towel stand needs a paint job.  I've resisted all these years but it's finally gotten pitted enough that I can't make it look good anymore.  I opted for this kind of towel bar stand after the tile went up to keep the wall neater looking.

This is about 12' deep and has a whirlpool tub that we put in in 2000.  It has a curved shape which creates a slight angle.   I'm glad I went with the neutral colors in the fixtures and tile.  I also just realized that the tile on the floor which the contractor had cut out from one of the accent tiles is on an angle and is another diamond shape!  See how the curtains go all the way down to the bottom now too.

Back in 1999 when we did this bathroom brass was still ok....then it went severely out of vogue but I never gave way to the trend and kept it all.  Thankfully brass made a resurgence so I don't feel too out of it now.  These were all top end Kohler fixtures and I wasn't about to change them out.

The hand soap is from Judy at Cranberry Morning
This is a link to her Etsy shop in case you'd like to check it out "here"
I have a few choices of hand and body lotion always ready.  I seem to be dry skinned all the time so I like having my lotion handy!

I did a post a year ago called "Soap Apothecary" in which I included several bars of Judy's hand made soaps which you can see "here"
The  French "Bains" (means bath) accessories are from Pier 1 (on clearance now).  The clock was a find at a little boutique store.
I still have the wreath the kids sent me a while back.  It's made of dried leaves and flowers including some blue hydrangeas.  It's fairly brittle but safe where I have it.

I really hate taking pictures with artificial lighting but we've had several rainy days and overcast skies and I finally gave way to having to take my pictures this way.  If you look at the other links I've included you can see the room with more natural lighting.

  4. Great new accessories. They really spruce up the bathroom. Shower curtains can be a real pain. I like going all the way to the ceiling for a nice look. Most designers do this in model homes.
