Forever In Our Hearts

This week we had to say goodbye to our beloved cat Riley.

Riley, a Tonkinese (part Siamese and Birman) was a darling from the start and a wonderful companion.  He loved my husband the most and would follow him like a dog and even jump from the floor up to his chest when invited.

In early May 0ur little Riley was diagnosed with a large tumor in his lung.  For the past month we did our best to keep him comfortable.  His last few days became very difficult, so we had to make the decision to put him to rest.

His companion Carmen will miss him the most and already does.  They hardly did a thing without each other.  She's looking for and getting a lot of extra attention.

Such a lovely being deserves to rest now and play on Eternal Life. It's amazing how they become ours and us theirs.

It's a sad day when one has to say goodbye. Take Care,

    Teresa

  5. So sorry Liz. Riley will be missed! Our fur babies are such a big part of our families. I can't imagine making that decision, but we have to consider their comfort and what is best. Carmen will be missing Riley big time. Hugs

  7. Oh Liz, I'm so sorry. What a beautiful creature Riley was. I've had to make that decision too, and it is unselfish decision to make. When we'd rather keep them with us, and we have to weigh what is best for them against what we want. Saying prayers for you and your family. Hugs, laurie

  8. It's so hard to give up a member of the family, especially when we have to make that final decision. We did it five years ago with our beloved dog, and my daughter just had to do it with hers last month. Hurts a lot.

    Take care,
    Katherine

  9. Liz,
A precious tribute to a family pet, dear friend.
Pets enrich our lives in amazing and wonderful ways.
Our beloved Maurice left us far too soon, also. . .
like you, we are grateful for all the years of loving her.
Riley was fortunate to have had you and your sweet hubby as owners.
Blessings. . .and in time He will turn your sorrow into joy.
    Fondly,
    Pat

  13. Oh, Liz- I have tears in my eyes. I am so so sorry that you had to make that decision. I think losing a kitty leaves such a big hole in your heart. You have some wonderful photos and memories of Riley here, Liz.

This might ease your heart a bit....one day out of the clear blue SweetCheeks said to me---(she was FOUR). Do you know about PET HEAVEN? No..I said. Pet Heaven is next to our heaven. You can go visit in PET HEAVEN but they can't come into People Heaven. She was so earnest and sincere about it, Liz. I asked her Mom if they had talked about it at all and she had no idea where she came up with it. I do- I think she knows something we don't know.

  16. I'm so sad for you both. Riley was beautiful. I had a Siamese and she was the most beautiful kitty, personality too, that I ever had. They really do have a dog like quality in those breeds, and they are such wonderful companions as was your RIley. xoxo
