Festive Halloween Basket

I picked up this pumpkin basket at Michael's a while back thinking I'd use it outside but then I decided I'd keep it indoors so it wouldn't get weathered.

It seemed like I was seeing these crazy witch's legs everywhere this year except most of them were already used with a wreath or some kind of arrangement.  I believe I found these at Hobby Lobby and though I wanted stripes I settled for polka dots!

I stopped in at Michael's to get a foam piece to hold the legs.  I picked up this cake form because it's very tall and it fit right in there like it was made for it.

Sorry about the terrible picture but anyway I found a wreath (all Halloween is 50% off at Michael's) and decided I'd attach it to the top of the basket.

I used a wire to tie onto the side handles of the basket to secure the wreath.
Then I poked the crazy legs in.  I had to adjust them a couple of times afterwards.

I put some of that shredded grass filler down inside to cover up the white foam.  I like keeping that stuff on hand for various things- even stuffing a gift bag.
I am just beginning to think about Halloween.  I usually only put out some halloween stuff for a week, but I decided I needed to work on this to be sure I had everything I needed.  As it turned out it was quite simple and that's a good thing!

For those who prefer no orange.

Did you notice the mouth looks like a bat?

  7. Too cute, Liz! I've been seeing those witch legs all over, too, and I think they're hilarious. I even had a friend who put striped stockings on the legs of a table and put black boots on the legs! Looked like the table had witch legs! Crazy creative. ;)
