Kitchen Dining Plate Rack Updated...again!

I changed the plate rack again- I like to see a new look every so often!

I decided to add some white for background color and it all started because of this funny pig watering can I found on clearance at Cracker Barrel!

He's surprisingly heavy for such a little guy- but then he is a pig!! LOL

Last time I changed it was in early June and I posted that "here"

It seems each time I do it I like it better than the last time- not sure if one is actually better or if I just like change!

Working our way down.... I added these Tuscan yellow colored plates that I've had for several years (Pier 1) and angled them.  Guess what...duh....I had talked about leaning the plates against the rail the last time, and I figured out I am able to do it on mine.  There is a little groove for the plates but it still makes me a bit nervous.

The only blue and white dishes I have that work for this area are the Devon Cottage ones.  I angled the dinner plate and put one of the Polish Pottery pieces in the center.  The sunflower pitcher has been with me for a while (T.J.Maxx)

At the bottom I played with the dishes and ended up with this.  I want it to look a bit whimsical and casual.  I used the picket fence candle votive holder to prop the creamer in- just because! The plate behind has a fleur de-lis design on it as does the big platter in the top area.  I love using those plates for sandwiches and soup.  I have 4 now and when I go to T.J. Maxx I look for more but haven't seen one in a while.

I took my new sign down and replaced it with the metal platter.

The sign is down here now.  It has a soft aqua shade to it and yesterday it was bugging me on the wall so down it came.  I kind of like it here better anyway! The rooster jar was a find back in May that I posted about "here" The little cow creamer is from Pottery Barn a while back.

The dough bowl with lavender is now sitting on the little (Kirklands) farm table and a woven tray is casually resting behind the large Romano Blue Urn that I scored from Ethan Allen on a store closing in May of 2013

This will finish out summer for me and then I'll head into fall decorating later in September.  I added some more wheat to the urn to plump it up a bit.

I did a tablescape with these elements.  I decided to leave them on the table and enjoy them for a while.

I love this time of the summer...Vegetables are plentiful and there are still plenty of warm relaxing days to enjoy.

I think I'm just going to call this my little French Farmhouse Corner!

  1. It's starting to look a more like late summer in that corner of the room! You have a wonderful mix of summer and fall that lends a cozy, unpretentious feel. Everything works so well together from the rack to the stand to the table. It's like visiting the kitchen of an American living in France...a comfortable, easy mix of both worlds. Very nicely done!!!! Enjoy it...for the little time you'll keep it that way! :-)

  6. What a great piece to have to play with! You have inspired me to restage my baker's rack in the kitchen, it has looked the same for much too long! The sunflower in the bottle is perfect for the country French feel with the wheat and the grain sack cloth~

  13. What a wonderful pig piece you have there! The changes on your plate rack are beautiful, and yes, those angled plates scare me, too. I would hate for you to lose one of those beauties! I'm sure they're fine, since the rail in front should hold them. Anyway, your rooster collection is so fun, each one adding so much charm and warmth to your kitchen. Enjoy it all! :-)
