Fantasy Fairy Garden 2017

Welcome to the Fantasy Fairy Garden.  My fairies are gardeners but are always glad to have visitors!
I'll let the pictures walk you through it.

Path's are sprinkled with crushed seashell for the fairies- they glisten from all the fairy dust!

Dining under the gazebo or out on the patio you are welcome either place to join!

It's just for fun- be happy!

A mixture of real plants, some faux and stones to create a magical landscape.  It's always fun to see the plants fill out and the iris plants are like their forest.

This year they have their own greenhouse!

Chipmunks, squirrels and birds wander throughout so I added a clear non-toxic glue on top of the crushed sea shell stones to hold them together.  A whole new approach this year!

This is where they live on my short retaining wall near the patio and garden area.

I hope you enjoyed this visit to my Fantasy Fairy Garden!
Each year I do things a little different and if you would like to look back you're invited to check out the past 3 year's versions:

Finally My 2nd Cottage

I ordered this new cottage on May 9th and it took until now for it to arrive.

I had prepared a foundation for it this spring so all I had to do was to set it in place.
I had chosen a bright green roof so it wouldn't match the red roofed cottage.

I asked for a brown door, bleach shutters and the little scrollwork piece in black to go above the door.  Thankfully they got it all right!

The bright green sedum was planted there knowing I had the cottage coming.

I found another garden cart like my old one that was crushed in my little accident I posted about the other day.  I decided it would show up better on the bright green sedum.

I've relocated a few fairies.

When I fell last week the new cottage would have probably caused me more injury and likely have been damaged.  Perhaps it was divine intervention that caused the cottage to be delayed so long?

The little guy on the bench lost part of one leg. I can't find it either - must have gone deep in the ground.

I've had to start trimming the alyssum as it is really taking over.  Not complaining because this is the way I wanted it to look.

I planted some Moss Rose here too and I love their little flowers mingling in with everything!

Next year I'll probably set things up a little differently and create a new look.

It just rained for five minutes and now the sky is clearing!  It cooled things off.  It's been pretty hot here- how about in your area?
Thank you all for your kind comments on my previous post.  I appreciated hearing from you.

A Little "Fairy" Notoriety

A couple of months ago I was contacted Sarah Elms at our local newspaper the Record Eagle and asked to do an interview about fairy gardening.

>
Since it was March and most of my fairy garden was put away we did a phone interview and I shared pictures with Sarah that she had chosen from my garden blog.

I snapped pictures from the magazine.  I was so tickled to see this two page spread as the beginning of the article.

Sarah's focus was to talk about the growing popularity of Fairy Gardening.  She interviewed a few people and different parts of the conversations are included throughout.

She wanted a picture of me so I set up a tripod and used my timer to take the picture shown in the upper left corner.  Early in March we had a complete meltdown of snow and I brought out some of my fairy garden pieces.  These pictures are from several different posts on my blog.

I'm so pleased that Sarah chose me to include in her story. I was a little shy about doing it but I'm glad I let my guard down and went for it!

I've also created fairy gardening in containers.  This can be rewarding especially if you don't have much space or garden beds.

This is my first fairy garden area.
All my Fairy Garden posts can be found if you go to my search bar and type in Fairy Garden.  Because of the heavy snowfall we get up here I put my fairy garden accents away every fall.  I change things up a bit each year since I have to bring it all out again.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoyed my 15 minutes of fame!

This is a "link" to the Grand Traverse Scene magazine.  My story begins on page 34.
If that doesn't work well then use this "link" and select the story about "Fairy Gardens Growing Whimsy".

Couldn't Resist- Started Playing With the Fairy Garden

With all the nice weather we've had I just had to go outside to do something.
Hubby used the leaf blower (you can see him in the left corner of the picture) to clear off all the debris that has fallen from the trees during the winter.  The burlap around the shrubs were removed but we haven't opened up the fountain yet.

I brought out the cement fairy cottage.  I decided I wanted it higher up so I built up a couple more rows of brick pavers and added a step in front.   I'm just playing at this point with my ideas but this is a good start.

I picked through all my stones that were spread all over to cluster together to create a little hill next to the steps.  My goal is to help it look like it's been there a while.  The more I fussed the more of the little accents came out.  It's so incredibly early for me to be out there doing stuff like this that I keep waiting for buckets of snow to fall on us again.

I stored the stump in the garage too because the little table set is stapled down to it and I worry what the weight of the snow would do to it.  I just fluff some soil around it and it looks like it's really in the ground.

I don't have outside water access right now so I couldn't clean things up but the rains we're getting may help with that.

Elsewhere in the yard this is what mice and voles do under the snow.  What a mess they made this year.

A little bleak looking but a start!  Once the plant life grows the magic begins!  Let's keep hoping that this early spring weather continues on!
