Welcoming Easter at the Dining Table

 

The new Easter bunnies I used last year are once again in use.  Love the texture!

 

I used a large wire tray that I got from Pottery Barn years ago.  I also brought in some of my blue and white pieces.

 

The tablecloth I also used last year and was from Williams Sonoma

 

Found this at Home Goods this year and it has two sides so I'll be able to use it again!

 

The wire tray is wrapped on the outside with a 5 ft. long egg garland that I got from Amazon.

 

Carrots and eggs placed on the grass along with this bunny topped cabbage bowl cutsied it up a bit!

 

Forsythia in the vase, so springlike!

 

The blue and white bowl I got at Home Goods and was loaded with all these white flowers.  This is a keeper for sure!

I've been enjoying this for a while now and looking forward to spring!

Floral Easter Dining Table 2022 (T)

 

 

Welcome to my Easter dining table!

 

I've used my Anniversary fine china again since it has great spring colors and mixed it with some casual elements.

 

The gold flatware picks up nicely on the edge rim of the dishes.

I've kept the table simple but I think festive enough!

 

The crystal is a pattern from Mikasa that we picked up at the Mikasa Outlet in 2003 our 25th anniversary along with another set of everyday dishes.  I elevated the basket of flowers on a cabbage leave placemat which is on an upside down serving platter.  I can just remove the flowers, flip over the serving platter and VOILÀ!

 

I've had this tablecloth from Kohl's for quite a few years.  Love the cutwork and scallped edge.

 

Big giant magnolia stuffed in a collection of hydrangeas, tulips and lily of the valley!

 

I decided to put an egg on top of the candle holder since I already have candles in the votives.  A Pier 1 purchase several years ago.

 

I love the cheerful spring colors!  

The candle votives were from Pier 1 a while back.

 

The napkins, placemat and the charger lend a casualness to the table.

Falling In Love With Fall On The Dining Table

 

A little while back I created this vase full of sunflowers that I posted about.

Well I decided to expand on that!

I started with my fall tablecloth from Williams Sonoma (from few years back) and a new table runner from either T.J. Maxx of Home Goods.  It has a faint hint of black in the lines.

I had to wait for a sunnier day to highlight the table since there are no windows immediately nearby.  

I mixed in my MacKenzie Childs pumpkins with some other faux pumpkins which coordinated with different elements on the table.  I added sprigs of berries for filler and a couple of floral sprays. 

    On the backside you can see two deep wine leafed wreaths that I used to elevate two of the                                                                                 pumpkins on.

I just love the owl, got it a couple of years back and they still sell it.  The verdi green pumpkin was new last year and is also from MacKenzie Childs.

Rug Crazy

Dan and I wanted to change out the rug we had here which began a extensive process of searching.  

I became rug crazy and searched local stores and a lot on the internet.  I really struggled with this because I knew that the last time we bought a rug I never was completely satisfied with my choice.

This is the previous rug was a very light colored rug and it had fringe which I learned to dislike.  Our daughter will get this so it will continue on being used.  

Doing my research I learned more about rugs which can be interesting.  Hand tufted rugs like mine are made by using a hand held machine that punches the yarn in place on a stretched canvas.  A hand tied rug is just that- each yarn is placed and tied.  They shear the yarn afterward for an even finish.  The amount of yarn and denseness affect the cost.  I had to stay within a certain price point so I chose the hand tufted type.  The most reasonably priced rugs are machine made entirely hence a lot less labor.

This area used to be our main living room (for those who are newer to my blog).  We remodeled our home in 1996 and the large living room that is off to the right was added on.   There used to be a front door and a picture window along the right side.

 I decided to go for something that would be warmer and compliment the wood tone of the furniture, plus it had to be an agreeable pattern with the fabric on the chairs and style of the furniture.  It doesn't show much but there is some olive green in there along with a light taupe/tan and a rusty/red. 

I liked the idea of a centered medallion so it would show nicely between the double pedestals of the table.  I also liked that it didn't have a wide border around the edges like my other one did.  Our space is limited for the table and I think it looks more relaxed now.

This picture which is so hard to capture because of glare has a darker rust tone in the planter.  The dark terracotta color was helpful in my thought process.

I put together an impromptu vignette on the table reflecting the olive and rust tones.  

We are pleased with it and it didn't break the bank.  I ended up ordering it through Bed Bath & Beyond (after looking at many web sites and they were all pretty much priced the same) but I was also able to get another 20% off with the free shipping so it was a win win for me.  I also could return it for free which is a big deal since it weighs about 70 lbs.  As you can see Carmen and Teddy approve too!

So now I'm done being rug crazy!
