Valentine's Dining With Friends (T)

Hello, join me as I've set the table for Dan and I and a couple of friends for Valentine's Day
(a bit early).

Romantic flowers center the table with my mother's fine china place settings.

There are snap dragons, though they haven't opened up much yet, beautiful pink roses and soft lilac colored mums.

I used the candle votives I got from Nell Hill's back when she had an on-line account.  A touch of purple from the candles picks up on the purple flowers and some purple in the dishes.

Time for dinner!

Valentine's Inspired Tablescape (T)

My amaryllis are lovely right now and made for some good cut flowers so I decided to use them for my Valentine's Inspired Tablescape!

I sure have enjoyed these for the past couple of months!

I gathered some of my Valentine's deco and had some fun with it!

This little piggy is all dolled up for Valentine's Day, and is sitting on a pair of gold hearts with an arrow through it.  I scattered some red glass pieces for fun!

Isn't she cute! Aren't those some crazy eyelashes!

I had these heart plates from Pier 1 from several years ago.  I used a black outlined dinner plate to frame the heart dishes.  The white chargers, crackle wine glasses were from Pier 1 and so were the heart napkins.

I used a gold napkin ring to go with the gold hearts.

I double layered the heart napkins with a black & white check and repeated the black with the flatware and dinner plate.

I chose this red and white rooster talecloth that I got from the April Cornell website a couple of years ago.

I had a terrible time with these photos.  It's a very overcast day, snowing and I just couldn't get
enough light, so I altered all of my pics to be brighter.

Cheers to Valentine's Day!

BE MINE (T)

Won't you Be Mine!
I thought I'd show my table in stages as I built it...

I came across these at Home Goods on mark down.  The starry dishes are by Sara Miller London, Portmeirion Celestial Collection.  The glittery gold chargers were part of a set of 4

The "Love" dishes came from Hobby Lobby.  I accented them with a chocolate heart!  The gold rimmed stemware were also from Home Goods.  I borrowed the center glass tray from  under my cloche nearby.  My theme quickly became gold and red!

Then I brought in my "Red Velvet" Amaryllis that I've been growing for the last month for my centerpiece.
I embellished the pot with moss, three hearts on sticks and a garland made of hearts.

I had this pink rose accented pottery piece for some time.  Turns out it was just the right size for the amaryllis.

Red Velvet amaryllis is a very large and truly red flower.  Here it is nearly all opened up.

And now it's in full bloom!  Just as gorgeous as a red rose!

These are candles accented with heart graphics from Pier 1 with "Pink Champagne" as their scent.  The crystal candlesticks are also from Pier 1.

The gold and white striped candles were part of a boxed set I picked up at TJMaxx a while back.

I was going for a bit of an elegant with a flair of whimsy!

Some nighttime photos!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Dan knows I love color and flowers so he definitely hit the mark with this fabulous bouquet!

Those are white roses but somehow they translated as soft pink through the camera lens.

Yellow roses were my flower choice when we were married back in 1978!

We finally got a break in the weather and are going out for dinner later.
Wishing you all a Happy Valentine's Day!

Eiffel Tower Romantic Inspired Valentine's Day Tablescape (T)

Once again the Eiffel tower became the inspiration for my romantic Valentine's Day tablescape!
I used the Eiffel Tower for another tablescape in 2015 as seen "here" in case you'd like to check it out!

This is what is underneath the red napkin.  I flipped a candle holder over and used the square bottom which happened to be about the exact size for the Eiffel Tower.  I wanted to raise it up higher and was glad I found something that could do the job!  I also put some clear plastic stick-on feet to the candle holder so the ceramic wouldn't scratch or move on the mirror.

As I began my thought process for this table I gathered all my dishes and accents together.  I decided these oversized mugs would work great as vases.  As you can see I used a half round styrofoam piece for my flowers.  I picked up an oversized white hydrangea flower that I centered and a spray of red roses.  I snipped the roses off and pushed them down here and there.  I already had the glittery red hearts on sticks in my saved goodies.  I shortened the sticks to fit each spot.  Since I was preparing this a bit early before Valentine's Day I chose not to use fresh flowers.

I assembled each on on this plate and had some glitter to clean up afterwards!

Mirrors are easy to use, inexpensive and can create such a nice reflective and romantic element.

The dishes were found at Hobby Lobby last year and are made by 222 Fifth which is a label I've come across at various places.  These set the tone for a bit of a more contemporary tablescape design.

I chose the white (Ralph Lauren) dishes because they reminded me of lace doilies.  When we were kids those paper lace doilies were popular for Valentine's Day.  The black dish has a bit of a square shape so I chose that to balance the look with the Eiffel Tower dishes.

I chose to make the napkins flat and place them across the dishes to go with the angular lines created with the mirrors, place mats, and dishes.   The flatware adds to the contemporary feel of this tablescape too.

These clear crackle wine glasses from Pier 1 are another favorite.  They always look great with red wine poured in them!

I  used these dishes last year for my Valentine's Day table as seen "here".  I added the two placemats on the ends with the thought that serving dishes could be used and then later some dessert.

We've had so little sun I was grateful to capture some images with the bright sun flooding in the living room nearby.  This table could be used for a luncheon with the girlfriends or in the evening with another couple for a more romantic mood.

In the early evening the sun shines through and I captured a couple of nice shots!

I added a tealight candle for some romantic lighting!

I had these red colored tealights that I saved from Pier 1 that worked out well.

The gold hearts have been in my stash for a few years which I got from Michael's.  The red napkin is part of a set I bought from Pier 1 several years ago.

Just to be different I removed the napkins and set them off to the corner.  I like to explore different ideas.  Now you can see the flatware better too!  Go with what makes you happy!

I hope you enjoyed my Eiffel Tower inspired tablescape and got some ideas for yourself!
