Christmas in the kitchen!

My kitchen is a tiny one so I have to be selective with what I add to it.
I rarely do the same thing year after year and this year was no exception!
 This is a half wall that is shared with the stairwell going to the basement.
This handled box came from One Kings Lane- I've had it for months and never could
decide on what to do with it.
While it sat in my laundry room it ended up with three glass jars set into it that
I picked up at Pottery Barn but had never made use of either.

The amaryllis is a faux one I bought last year from One Kings Lane.
I added the bow with the ribbon I used last year on my chandelier.

 I had also picked up some faux green floral picks and they had no home either.
Suddenly a plan emerged when I decided I wanted to grow some paperwhites again!

 I stuffed three bulbs in each one with stones and moss.

They are growing and I hope to see blooms by the end of the month.
They are already taller since I took this picture.
I'm not too optimistic that they'll make it by Christmas- but I can hope!

  In my kitchen window I dressed it with a white snow blanket and added this little
village style church.  It's electric and has little lights and a tree that turns.
There's still a bit of the 60's and 70's in me when I was a child/teen!

 Next to it is my Christmas Cactus which has decided to bloom right on time!
I wrapped a burlap and satin ribbon around the pot to give it a holiday touch!

They do have a pretty flower and I'm grateful it's blooming for me!

We've got our winter on here already!
Back in the 30's and snow in the forecast.  I've got new snow tires
and I'm ready to take it on!

Here is a short video I took with my iPhone this morning.
I thought I'd show you how the little village piece looks and
the birds were active outside so you get that view too!
It's probably kind of cheesy but here it is!
The audio is my tv which I had on a channel that plays seasonal music,
just turn down your volume if you don't want to hear it!

As always, thanks for visiting!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I thought I would share with you a couple of new vignettes in the kitchen that I recently created.
To begin with I picked up this basket a while back and it really hadn't been given a home.  It's made to stack plates in and that's why the front has the dropped down opening.
Of course I couldn't leave well enough alone! I have this cute little white pedestal that I realized would fit in there and help to raise the plates up higher.  Of course now it needs something to cozy it up!
 I looked about and saw this Williams Sonoma wash cloth and because of the stripe I thought it might be a good touch.  After playing with it a bit I liked it but something was bugging me.
I dug through my napkins and found this Pottery Barn napkin that had some nice earthy tones that would work well with my colors.
This napkin allowed me to fill in the space a bit better.
 I love chicken wire items and this little basket was a good addition to the pieces I got from Pottery Barn a couple of years ago. The tray on the wall is from Wendell August and the Rooster pitcher is a Bordallo Pinheiro piece.
This picture is a print I ordered on line and the frame was a T.J. Maxx find.  I liked the coloring in the frame and it works great with my kitchen.
Small kitchen....4 ft. between the base cupboards. It works well for one person- gets crowded easily! Let's just say you can do a lot of butt-bumping!
 This is a quick shot of the kitchen.  I moved the knife block off to the back right which shows in the picture above.  I have a tv on a swivel mount that we watch in the mornings while having coffee and sometimes while I'm making dinner!  The little clock below the tv is actually a unit that controls lights inside and outside  of the house.  It's a bit utilitarian but I have few places to hide things.
 Speaking of coffee this is my little nook for coffee.
 Just to the right of the tv is this other vignette I created.  I got a bun on to create something using a collection of pitchers and this is what I ended up with.
I wanted to do something in the whites but I had to work with it to fit in with my look.  The rooster hadn't been used since I bought it because It's so big I struggled with what to do with it.  I found it on 75% off at Cracker Barrel last year! Couldn't resist!
 I lined my chicken wire tray with this napkin which is also another one from Pottery Barn.
This was a pitcher I scarfed up from T.J. Maxx several years ago.  It's by Poterie Mont Rachas, France.
It was kind of pricey for T.J. Maxx but something told me to grab it! After I searched the internet for more of the product I was even happier with myself for buying it- especially at T.J.'s prices!
This is an old pitcher in front that I got from my Mom's and the one behind was a fairly new purchase from a trip to PA.
The one with the woven exterior was another T.J. Maxx piece from last spring. I liked the organic feeling it brought to the vignette.  It ties in well with the chicken wire tray and helps ground the look.
The Milkhouse milk bottle candle is a cute addition and I love having a little fragrance fill the air! The sunflower added some yellow which draws on the coloring in the Mont Rachas pitcher
So these are my two new vignettes!
Thanks for visiting!
Plum Chicken
My inspiration for this tablescape was this plum colored tablecloth and my new chicken statue.
I was inspired by the colors in this tablecloth-the deep plum background, the olive green which works well in my home, a pinch of clay white, turquoise, golds and rusts!  It had all the right fall ingredients!
I found these new clay white dishes at Cracker Barrel on clearance.  I was lucky enough to get 6 dinner plates.
I used my Pier 1 Import salad plates to layer with and the ivory handled flatware is from Horchow called Sophia.
And my gold colored napkins seemed to be the best pick to unify the look!
 These are the only two bread and butter plates they had left- I just loved the designs on these.
I found the candle votives at Pottery Barn and since they were done with the chicken wire I had to have them!  Last year I purchased a few pieces from the Pottery Barn Chicken Wire group, so I knew these were mine the minute I saw them!
I took apart a silk sunflower and used them to line the bottom of the glass votive inside the chicken wire.  The green color of the votive seemed to be disappearing on the dark tablecloth so I decided they needed something to make them pop!
This chicken is from One King's Lane.  I thought it was unique and reasonably priced.  If you've never heard of them go to their web site (you have to create an online user account to view their products- but there is no fee involved)
(If you use my E-mail as a referral I will be given a one time credit from them for a future purchase-and you can do the same for yourself with anyone else that uses you as a referral)
*See my e-mail at the bottom of this post.
Early evening is settling in and I have lit the candles.
The green pressed glass dessert pieces were something I found on line at Dillards.  They reminded me of glassware from the early 70's and I liked the swirly vine design they have.
The chicken was elevated on a square woven basket and I added a little embellishment with some silk sunflowers.
I was intrigued with the textural design on the plates and the chicken wire and how well they worked together!
