Bunnies in the Dining Room

When I saw these bunnies at Pier 1 I liked the elegant look they portrayed.  I bought them as soon as I saw them in the store not knowing if they'd last long.  On another visit I saw the clear glass egg candle holders and there was only one pair so I didn't waste any time on picking them up either.  The sales girl said they were constantly selling them and didn't have any extras.  I've also taken advantage of their 20% off offers that have been coming through which is always a bonus!

The tray wasn't available at the store but they were able to order it for me and I got free shipping.  I love free shipping!  On one of my visits I saw a box with these plates and as it turned out they were only offered on line but someone had returned them- I fell in love with them so home they came with me!

I wanted to display these but all I could think to do was to use plate stands but I really didn't want to do that so it finally hit me to display them this way.  They were a little hard to get them to stay there but it finally worked out.  I tried to arrange them so they could all be seen.

They really are sweet!

The mango wood tray has a nice etched detail.  They also sell this elegant egg scatter that I liked.

These are so cute with a touch of elegance.  They are sealed so they stay clean on the inside.  The glass is fairly cheap as you can see there are some imperfections (and I did hand wash them) but generally they look great.  I used a pair of the soft pink candles I already had that are made by Colonial Candle.  

I kept the runner out that I already had on the table.  It's a good neutral and made nice background for this.  I like the contrast of this honey wood tone mixed with the mahogany table.

I used the same soft pink is on the fireplace mantel.  

I love this soft pink color- it was definitely my favorite color this year!

Even this bunny had the soft pink coloring!

My Easter Egg Tree and more Bunnies!

We always had an Easter egg tree when I was a child.  The eggs were hand painted by one of my Aunts and a satin ribbon was wrapped around and made into a bow to hang them.  They no longer exist but I found some eggs a few years ago that work well.

This year I decided to use these cherry blossom branches to hang the eggs from.  One year I used pussy willow branches- loved it!  You can see that "here".  

Using my entryway table once again for another seasonal display.

I dug through things I had and made up a new way to use some of them.

I noticed this little metal basket in my closet of goodies and thought if would make a fun display for some more eggs.  Then I topped it with this fat little bunny I got at Pier 1 about 3 yrs. ago.  The little carrots were from JoAnn's last year.

This sweet little bunny was a new purchase from Pier 1 this year.  I happen to think she's the sweetest thing and couldn't resist bringing her home.  

This little chick was also from Pier 1 a few years ago- too cute with bunny ears!

I feel like giving her a name….
My daughter suggests "Miss Marybeth"….. I like it!

We've had a nice weekend and are expecting to be up in the mid 50's by Tuesday!  Hooray… though it may be a short warm up we'll embrace every minute of it!

Blast from the past-

That's me in the middle.  Those curls came from "pin curls.  Some of you may remember doing that!  My Aunt Lavina and Uncle Ray (Dad's brother) always came over for Easter and brought us our chocolate bunnies which we couldn't wait to eat.  If you look at the table you can barely see the trivet I made at church for my mom.  It's finely crafted with popsicle sticks and beads.  I tried to enhance the picture because the details were too soft- the original is below.  There's a little arrangement on the table with a candle in the center and it's surrounded with flowers.  The glass turtle candy dish was an amber color- his top is off to the side.  We were already done with our dinner so the table was mostly cleared.  There are white hobnail glass pieces on the hutch and even the chandelier. (circa 1966)  The picture below is the original I copied.  

Easter will be here before we know it!

Bunny Hopping Start to Easter Decorating

One of my favorite things about Easter decorating are the bunnies!

 The minute I saw this I knew where it was going

Remember the metal wreath I talked about not long ago that was gifted to me at  Christmas?  Well I stuffed it with a whole bunch of these boxwood spheres/balls from Pier 1.  It was a job getting them in there and I don't intend to take them out!

I found a wood candle pedestal in my stash that worked perfectly to set this on.  Don't you think it has a touch of folk art look to it?  I thought it was a great pick up to go with the rustic wreath.  I may stuff a little bit of moss around the base of the candles.  

I put a lantern near it but decided to put eggs and carrots in there instead of a candle.  Mr. Bunny is hopping on over there to get a bite to eat pick up some eggs to deliver!

The eggs are a mix from JoAnn's and Michael's and the carrots came from Hobby Lobby.  I've seen several versions of similar looking carrots this year at various stores but I went for these since they were reasonable and on sale.

So that's my Bunny Hopping start to Easter decorating- a little mix of rustic and glitter!

There will be lots of bunnies this year!

Little Flowery Easter Baskets

I saw these baskets at Michael's and got the idea to fill them with some flowers.  They came in a few colors like blue, green, pink and purple.

My crafting room is my kitchen table.   First I put in a piece of styrofoam and put in a small spray of light green and white flowers.  

Then I took them back out once I was happy with the height.  (These have been used before so they had extra holes).  The flowers were very inexpensive sprays I found at Michael's.  All I did was make a large hole in the center and then push the flowers down inside.  (I used my turkey baster for the hole.  The large end where the suction bulb attached was about the same width at the spray of flowers).

I found this light brown grass at Pier 1.  I needed something to hide the styrofoam and I liked the natural coloring of this.

I created a lining to cover the openings in the basket.

Once I got the foam back in I stuffed more of the filler around the edges. 

I was actually making two of these at a time.  I raised the handle up slightly.  You can just barely see it here.

I also added a bright green gerbera daisy flower to the top.

I also picked up a few bunches of styrofoam eggs on stems that I also added.  

I figure I can remove the eggs if I want and still use these as cute spring accents.  I didn't use my good camera- just my iPhone but I guess these aren't too bad.  Sorry the area is a little messy but that's how it goes when you are doing projects!

I moved them over to the lace top table for more pictures.  This is a front and back view.  As you can see there are pretty flowers all the way around.   

I got everything on 40 and 50% off so it was a very reasonable project. 

I think these would be cute for table accents at a family gathering or a church function or such.  My plan is to put them on the dish rack when I decorate it for Easter.  

I enjoyed putting them together and seeing my vision come together.  I hope you like them!
