Decorative Easter Touches- Part 1

You'll find a lot of bunnies around my house at this time of year!  This little one is sneaking away with a cabbage loaded with Easter eggs!  Once he delivers the eggs his prize will be the cabbage and all the carrots!

Using a dessert plate as a decorative accent!

I didn't expect to be using my Easter Egg Basket in this location but it all kind of fell together.

As I was taking pictures I noticed I could see the dining table in the mirror so let's go ahead and move over there now!

I started with a big cabbage leaf placemat below, then added a wreath and set my bunny in the center. The pink eggs are hand painted wooden ones I found as a set at T.J. Maxx this year.  I just tucked them in randomly on the wreath plus a little bunny with a pink bow.

Several years ago Pier 1 had those yellow chicks with bunny ears and I thought they were rather humorous!  I just realized that pretty much everything in this table arrangement is from Pier 1.  I enjoy the sisal bunnies and had to resist a lot of their new stuff this year although I did pick up the cute little bunny in pink!

This bunny with the egg cart came from a little shop up in Petoskey several years ago and was featured as a centerpiece for one of my tablescapes as seen "here" if you would like to see it!

I pulled on the color yellow a bit more this year.  I do enjoy the traditional colors of Easter decorating and since my birth month is March I think I've always embraced the festive Easter decorating.

A walk through the past...

This is me on the left and Jennifer on the right (that just had the back surgery) and one of my older sister's Sherry posing one year at Easter.  My mother made most of our outfits when we were younger.  We also wore these outfits to a birthday party just down the street. 😊

This my Aunt Lavina that we just lost late last summer (age 96) at one of our Easter get-togethers.  She and my uncle Ray always brought us a chocolate Easter bunny!

Thank goodness for the wonderful memories!

Easter In The Living Room

 I created another Easter Egg tree (last year's can be seen "here").  We always had one when I was a child so I love to continue the tradition.

 I used these bunnies on the mantel last year and liked it so much I used them again (last year's can be seen "here").  I nestled a pot of tulips that I know they've love to eat and scattered eggs around on the grass.

 I found the giant carrots at T.J. Maxx and ended up using them to help support the branches.

 I kept my white bowl on the mantel and added some hydrangea balls.  Simple but the colors work well with the Easter egg tree.  I know some people don't like the pastel colors used at Easter but I do!

 I have a lot of bunnies!  This is a pair my mom made for me a long time ago back when she took ceramic classes.  I requested some white bunnies one year and she surprised me with these!  The purple ribbons were place on them by her so they are forever important to me.  

 The eyes have a way to staring at you from different positions!  I love to look at them when I spend the evenings here watching tv.

 I laid carrots out for them and decorated with extra Easter eggs.

 I found these mossy mats at Michaels that I cut to fit the oval.  

 This folk art style bunny was new last year and I found the purple candles recently (wished they had more- it's hard to find a nice purple).  

 The black and white bunny is something I've looked for many times and I was tickled when I found it recently when we visited the family for my birthday.  I will leave him out after Easter.

Bunnies in the Dining Room

When I saw these bunnies at Pier 1 I liked the elegant look they portrayed.  I bought them as soon as I saw them in the store not knowing if they'd last long.  On another visit I saw the clear glass egg candle holders and there was only one pair so I didn't waste any time on picking them up either.  The sales girl said they were constantly selling them and didn't have any extras.  I've also taken advantage of their 20% off offers that have been coming through which is always a bonus!

The tray wasn't available at the store but they were able to order it for me and I got free shipping.  I love free shipping!  On one of my visits I saw a box with these plates and as it turned out they were only offered on line but someone had returned them- I fell in love with them so home they came with me!

I wanted to display these but all I could think to do was to use plate stands but I really didn't want to do that so it finally hit me to display them this way.  They were a little hard to get them to stay there but it finally worked out.  I tried to arrange them so they could all be seen.

They really are sweet!

The mango wood tray has a nice etched detail.  They also sell this elegant egg scatter that I liked.

These are so cute with a touch of elegance.  They are sealed so they stay clean on the inside.  The glass is fairly cheap as you can see there are some imperfections (and I did hand wash them) but generally they look great.  I used a pair of the soft pink candles I already had that are made by Colonial Candle.  

I kept the runner out that I already had on the table.  It's a good neutral and made nice background for this.  I like the contrast of this honey wood tone mixed with the mahogany table.

I used the same soft pink is on the fireplace mantel.  

I love this soft pink color- it was definitely my favorite color this year!

Even this bunny had the soft pink coloring!

Pastels on the Mantel for Easter

When I saw this color of silk roses and hydrangeas I just grabbed some up not knowing what I was going to do but as I started to work on the mantel I finally decided on how I was going to use them.

I added green ribbon to the white lattice lanterns but you can barely see it.

Delicate and pretty realistic!

First I put together an egg tree but when I set it up there it looked lost with the picture behind it.

I love these two bunnies! Last year they hit the scene pretty heavy but I didn't get any until much later when I found these on sale at a small gift shop.  

I added the pink ribbon just because.

The sun has been popping in and out this afternoon which has been so nice to see!

On the coffee table I added the same rabbit as last year and filled the little jar with eggs and grass.

I found him last year at T.J.Maxx.  I filled his basket with blue eggs this year.

This and the wood top area I recently showed are all I'll do for the living room.  Keeping it simple!

 Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursdays!

I also wanted to do a St. Patrick's Day

post but fell behind, so I combined a couple of themes!

I figure it this way, rabbits would love to eat the clover and I think it looks very spring like so I included my table runner with it's clover or should I say shamrocks!

I have to tell ya this is a hoppin' party! These bunnies have been raiding nests and collecting eggs!  They've been captured 

and revealed under these cloches!

This little one is begging ever so nicely to 

get let out!  Don't worry I'll 

let her out soon!

This one fell asleep! I suppose it was from all that hard work collecting so many eggs!

This one has it made because she's got plenty of flowers to munch on!  

Isn't she a cutie!  

We're going to have some of the Irish Potato Soup we keep reading about and of course a traditional corned beef dinner!  

These bunnies have landed right on the napkins!

I think they look pretty cozy, don't you?

Like I said it's a hoppin' party!

My Bordallo Pinheiro dinnerware pieces add some garden magic, which I think is what attracted these bunnies in the first place!

I am adding a 2nd part to my posting. 

A friend of mine in New Mexico sent me some pictures of a tablescape she put together for St. Patrick's Day.  Betty's not a blogger yet, but I'm working on her!

 She pulled together a cute table and found some unique "greens" to use! I like these candles and I see some daises were included too!

Her pot of gold is adorned with this leaf

laid inside. I like her cute little basket which I think she put some crackers in for that little leprechaun!

  Ahh, I think he's been here...see his hat on the chair!

I like this leaf shaped bowl too!

The cool glass of water with lemon and lime looks real inviting!

Her linen napkin and the placemat share the same coloring which look great with the green.  I like her layered plates and the green cabbage leaf underneath is perfect for the traditional cabbage and corned beef dinners we so often make for the occasion!

I think she did a great job!

Now Betty we have to get you to start blogging too!
