For Linda

Today I am meeting Kathleen Cuisine's challenge for her
"All White Fall Dish Challenge"
I'm dedicating this luncheon table to my friend Linda who is undergoing a very critical surgery today.

When I think of Linda I associate her with being very feminine.  My challenge was how to keep it feminine, add some fall to it and use all white!
When I saw these soft pink almost lavender mums I fell in love with them.  The wine glass picked up on them nicely too!

I'm afraid I blew part of the challenge in that I used this bowl that has a pattern.  It has a tad bit of lavender in the pattern and I got hung up on that.
(Sorry Kathleen.)

A simple white dish is used for a sandwich wrap that will be served after the potato soup has been served.
The 2nd bowl is for some peach ice cream!  I'm bowl stacking!

A dry riesling is added to go with the luncheon.
This is from a local vineyard here in Traverse City, MI.

I tucked a white towel around the mum to
quickly hide the pot it came in.

The little cherub is keeping vigil for Linda's successful surgery and full recovery.

Thank you again Linda for all your generous help with my blog and for encouraging me to try it!

If you are reading this and would like to visit Linda's page you can do so "here"
I'm sure she'd appreciate some extra visits and prayers!

Prayers for Linda

Today I'm asking for your prayers for my friend Linda.
She's my blog fairy (designer) and a very
close internet friend.
Linda and Granddaughter Marissa
Our friendship began in 2009 when we both were doing posts on the HGTV/Rate My Space internet page.

In 2010 she encouraged me to start blogging and it was at that time I believe she started too.

She's so savvy with computers and she's held my hand
throughout these past 3 years with my blogging needs and
is a real blessing to know!

About 13 years ago, just after she married her love Paul,
she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.
Linda and Paul 2010

She braved through surgery and chemo therapy and has been a healthy active person ever since.
Unfortunately she's recently been diagnosed with cancer again and will be undergoing surgery tomorrow Thursday the 9th.
There will be chemo therapy again and I
know that is hard to go through.

Please join me with some extra prayers
and encouragement and let's help Linda get down
on this cancer once again!

Together we can beat these things!

Blue Hour and Flowers

Greetings fellow plant lovers and gardeners!!

You may have noticed my new blog look thanks to my friend Linda at
Life and Linda who transforms my blogs for me!  I give her an idea and she waves her magic wand and gives me what I asked for!  She's been busy transforming several blogs in the past few months and has a link at the top of her page you can see them at.   I recommend her not only because I think she's talented, but because she does it for a super reasonable price!

I know we all are fed up with winter (at least those of us still blanketed in the white stuff!)  We are experiencing some nice warmish weather (40's) which means "hooray" the snow is melting!
I'm an early riser- I love it when I catch the sunrise. A beautiful glow appeared and I snapped off a few shots.  I think this qualifies as a "blue hour"  photo.  That Beatles song "Here Comes the Sun" always pops in my head (fairly frequently)!

I love the pretty colors in the sky.  Truly like a rainbow!  Amber, pinks, purples, and blues!

I kept the camera around hoping for some nice sunshine to highlight my flowers that have just appeared this week on the Christmas Cactus.

I guess rest of the day will be warm but not sunny... perhaps it will dot in and out?  No complaints from me though... We have had a sun filled week and it puts everyone in a good mood.

Ah yes I did catch this a couple of days ago while having my morning coffee.  These tulips were nearly a week old and pretty much past their peak but I had to snap off a shot when the sun came beaming in!  (Not bad for a cell phone picture!)
I can hardly wait to see my own tulips popping up but that will probably be another month before that happens!  I also can't wait to wash my windows! After a long winter the windows sure get dirty!

Thanks and Inspiration

I don't know if anyone pays attention to details like how my blog recently got a makeover, but I wanted to thank Linda at
Life with Linda
for her help (once again)! She's been so generous over the last 2 years since I started blogging.  I get around pretty good with my blogging, but there are some aspects of it that are above my head and I'm so grateful to have her assistance!

Thank-you again Linda!

Inspiration

While visiting the One King's Lane web-site I was intrigued with these shell embellished items and copied their pictures for inspiration!  I thought I'd share them with you since I know so many of you are good at crafting and might be inspired by these too!
This is a fun way to take a picnic basket
over the top!
I'd be using it as an accent!

I like the way they used the two shells in the center of this box, almost like a handle!
These are by someone called Karen Robertson
This was another design that I liked.  They wanted $149 for it.... (suggested retail $295)?? huh??  to pricey for my blood

I'd like to embellish something to be in my nautical room.  I see sea shells at all the craft stores and I have a bunch of my own.  Now I have to decide on what I can use!

A quick cell phone picture of my nautical room....I will have to take better pictures and show the room in another post!
