Salad, Soup and Sandwiches! (T)

Since I've spent a lot of time at home trying to shake this sinus/ear infection along with hubby we've had our share of soup and sandwiches!

Join us for some Salad, Soup and Sandwiches!

You might be thinking she forgot the soup bowls!

Well not quite but I did incorporate them into the centerpiece!  The greens are a faux placemat made to look like cabbage leaves that I pushed down into the salad bowl to add some layering and color!

I put out coffee or tea mugs with snowflakes since it's very much wintery here and I filled some juice glasses with mini saltine crackers for the soup (or you can toss them on the salad too!)

I've been wanting to use these deer tree branch salad plates again.  I chose a placemat with pinecones and evergreens to be the backdrop and wicker placemats. The dinner plates were from Cracker Barrel quite a while back.  The soup bowls came out of another collection by Home Essentials.  Once again the bamboo flatware seemed to be the best choice!  I chose a solid blue napkin to draw on the blue coloring from the birds on the salad plates.

The plan is to use the wooden bowl for the salad to serve from.  Of course the soup bowls and leaf placemat has to be removed first.  After salad is served then the soup will follow with simple grilled cheese sandwiches.

It started snowing last night and we received more this morning.  Weather wise this has been a most unusual January for us.  The temps have been mild which makes winter so much more tolerable.

I'll be joining:
Between Naps on the Porch
Dinner Plates- Cracker Barrel (no pattern name)
Salad Plates- Pier 1 called Alexander
Soup Bowls by Home Essentials and Beyond called Madison Collection
Blue napkins by Park designs - Casual Classics Newport Blue
Snowflake mugs- Sur La Table 2015
Rooster Juice glasses by Pfaltzgraff
Pottery Barn candle holder used to elevate wooden bowl
Wooden Bowl- T.J.Maxx
Wicker chargers came from One King's Lane
Pinecone placements from Kohl's a few years back
Bamboo flatware came from Horchow (very inexpensive)

  1. I hope you're seeing some improvement with the sinus infection. The deer branch dishes are adorable, love. Genius idea with the placemat, it truly looks like lettuce.

  2. Liz, you must be feeling a little better to be able to set such a lovely table. I adore those sweet deer plates with the sweet little birds. They make your table smile. We are having very unseasonable temps today and yesterday--in the 60's! The wind is blowing and a cold front is approaching and bringing us back to reality. I do hope you and Dan are much better! Take care. ♥

  3. Such a beautiful tablescape. I love the deer dishes, so unique.

  4. Pretty view of the snow from your door, Liz. I love your tablescape. So many clever and artistic elements perfect for the time of year and your weather. Your plates are delightful and what a cute idea to put mini saltines in a juice glass for the soup course. I like how you used a blue napkin to bring out the blue color of the birds in the plate. Now, your centerpiece is clever too. Very creative.
I'm glad the winter is a little milder for you so far.

  5. This is such a unique and original table setting, Liz! And it blends in so well with that beautiful snowy landscape! What a view! I'm glad you're feeling better!

  6. Love your table setting Liz. So pretty. Love those deer plates. Yep our Winter has been pretty wild too. Spring like temps in January is so weird for us too. Have a great Friday and wonderful weekend.

  7. What a fun table setting! Such a design is decidedly cheerful, just the thing when you've been under the weather. Here's to feeling better.

  8. Hi Liz! I'm so sorry you've been sick so long and hope you're almost over this mess. Your table looks lovely. How cute poking your bowls into the bowl all hidden in the leaves! :) The deer bowls are lovely. Fell better.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  9. Lizm your table is lovely. I am so glad you used your precious deer plates again. They are delightful. Soup and sandwich is so good when we are not feeling the greatest. I hope your cold has subsided. Love the cabbage leaf in the bowl...great idea.

  10. I love your tablescape, Liz. It is really lovely and those deer plates are just REALLY cute! You are probably getting tired of soup and sandwiches but sometimes it is just easier, isn't it?

  13. Liz, I'm sorry that you have been fighting sinus and infection problems. No fun!! I have a few of those cabbage leaves and I love them. Such a cute idea to tuck it in the bowl. Very much winter here too, and we've been eating a lot of soup as well. Get well soon!

  14. Liz, I am so sorry you have been sick. A steaming bowl of soup sound perfect on a cold and snowy day. I love your table and I have admired those salad plates and wanted to buy them last year. Hope you feel better soon!
