Got the Blues....

Yep, I've got the blues...

I've been so excited about these Delphiniums and
I was planning to take pictures with my
good camera but I got beat by the rain!
I took this picture on the 2nd with my iPhone.
I put plant supports out to help them but these were over 5 ft. tall and my stakes proved to be too short.

Today they were filled out beautifully but
This morning we had a lot of rain!

I looked out the front windows and saw they
had broken over so I had to bring them in.

I decided to display them in this dramatic fashion
to show how big they are.
The one on the right is 3 ft. long
I cut some of the yellow
Yarrow (Achillea) to fill in the center.

I'm getting a lot of use out of this vase
I got from my Mom's.  It's a very heavy vase and
capable of supporting this bunch.

I've got the blues...on top of my table!

  2. I am starting to love blues more and more. iPhones are starting to give the good cameras a little competition.

  3. Liz, your delphiniums are just gorgeous! I've tried raising them but just don't have much luck with them, although they are one of my favorites. Thank you so much for stopping in at Cranberry Morning! Unless we get storms today, it should be perfect weather, low 80s. I love the summertime air.

  4. Oh, how I wished for some rain... those delphiniums in my garden wouldn't hurt either ahahahah
What a striking tone of blue. I now feel I miss blue in the garden :) - what an elegant hue yours are.
I like the way you enjoy and create with what Nature gives you... I'd be fretting and rethinking so much that when they'd get inside they wouldn't be in shape to create a lovely piece like you did.
    You rule, Liz!

  5. Hi Liz, Your delphiniums are just stunning! I'm sorry the rain was hard on them, but they do look awesome on your table!

  6. Your delphiniums are gorgeous and make a dramatic arrangement with the yarrow. I always want to plant them when I see them growing in someone's garden or a photo. I think we might be on the hot end of their growing zone. I'm in 7b, but sometimes I think 8, because we have some annuals that return the next year. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous blooms.

  8. We have actually been without rain for two days in a row - I cannot believe it! Love your flowers and I am amazed at how large they are. Beautiful centerpiece!

  9. Liz, they are gorgeous! Both my blue and white ones were huge too. My white fell over in a rain storm and I brought a few in. Didn't get a pic. My blue ones just finished and I will cut them to the ground. Then they come back and bloom (not quite as pretty) a second time. I would love if you shared this with Share Your Cup.
    hugs,
    Jann
