Blue Hour and Flowers

Greetings fellow plant lovers and gardeners!!

You may have noticed my new blog look thanks to my friend Linda at
Life and Linda who transforms my blogs for me!  I give her an idea and she waves her magic wand and gives me what I asked for!  She's been busy transforming several blogs in the past few months and has a link at the top of her page you can see them at.   I recommend her not only because I think she's talented, but because she does it for a super reasonable price!

I know we all are fed up with winter (at least those of us still blanketed in the white stuff!)  We are experiencing some nice warmish weather (40's) which means "hooray" the snow is melting!
I'm an early riser- I love it when I catch the sunrise. A beautiful glow appeared and I snapped off a few shots.  I think this qualifies as a "blue hour"  photo.  That Beatles song "Here Comes the Sun" always pops in my head (fairly frequently)!

I love the pretty colors in the sky.  Truly like a rainbow!  Amber, pinks, purples, and blues!

I kept the camera around hoping for some nice sunshine to highlight my flowers that have just appeared this week on the Christmas Cactus.

I guess rest of the day will be warm but not sunny... perhaps it will dot in and out?  No complaints from me though... We have had a sun filled week and it puts everyone in a good mood.

Ah yes I did catch this a couple of days ago while having my morning coffee.  These tulips were nearly a week old and pretty much past their peak but I had to snap off a shot when the sun came beaming in!  (Not bad for a cell phone picture!)
I can hardly wait to see my own tulips popping up but that will probably be another month before that happens!  I also can't wait to wash my windows! After a long winter the windows sure get dirty!

Sunshine all day!

We had sun all day from morning to nightfall for a change and It was a pleasure!  I snapped off a few morning and afternoon shots of my flowers. I know they are just tulips but I have so enjoyed seeing them..

In the morning the sun comes up behind my house so my kitchen gets the first sunshine of the day.

I enjoyed the variety of this bouquet so much.  I don't splurge on fresh flowers very often so I definitely appreciate them!

This one seemed to be reaching out to the sun.  It wasn't hard to capture it's beauty!

Later in the day the sun was beaming through the living room windows so I snapped a few pictures.
I'm glad I gave myself this present of flowers!

I was pleased how sturdy these were and how they stayed up so nice and straight!

I slipped a few in a take home bag for my daughter who was visiting over the past weekend. They took a 150 mile trip back to her apartment. That's her Murano vase she brought back from Italy. She found it in the closet at home and took it back with her. Sniff.. there are very little traces of the kids around here anymore.

It's interesting how different the morning sun looks vs. the afternoon sun on the flowers.
I'm pleased as punch that the snow is rapidly melting around here.
All I have to say is- Old man winter... take a hike!!

Dazzling and details...

It was a typical dreary winter day- overcast
and gray. The sun came out at the very last part
of the day and stayed bright for about 2 hrs.
Just before sunset while I was sitting at my desk
my curtains were aglow and turned a dazzling
gold color!

I  moved as quickly as I could to capture this.
I felt lucky to have gotten this shot because only moments later

 it looked like this...

 and then back to normal...

It was one of those moments
where we always say "I wish I had my camera"
but in this case I actually did!  I keep it parked
on my desk so it wasn't far away!

 Details
An old treasured piece revived.
I forgot about this table that is made up of three elephant heads and
has one drawer.  It was from Bombay furniture back in 2006.
I had it in storage and forgot all about it.
I think it's a good fit with my well traveled home
theme I've been playing with lately.

I also landed on some goodies while on recent shopping adventure.

The "stuff" tray is made of glass and has a hint of
green in it with a antique gold edge.

The frame had this neat antiqued detailing to it
and again that touch of green.

Forget Paris? Not me!! I found a set of
three of these faux books and took the middle
sized one.  It has this wonderful aged finish
on it that I couldn't resist.

I haven't decided for certain where everything is
going but I know some of it is going on my desk.
I'll be back next week to show you what
I did with evertything.

The same store that I found my goodies at had this
made up chandelier that I have to share...
Isn't it funny! I could see this in someone's
craft shop.  It looks like they used a wooden
top to a box and created it from there.

How could I say no!

From the moment I got out of my car and spotted some potted daffodils in a shoppers cart I knew I was going to be bringing some flowers home with me!

Sure enough once I was inside the grocery store I spotted a sea of flowers and my radar was locked!  A wonderful smell from all the different varieties of flowers floated right into my nose-
How could I say no!

I selected this bouquet because it was loaded with a nice variety of colors and the flowers were still tightly closed.

They're opening nice and slow-
I think I'll be enjoying these all week long!

Pastels

  Vibrant colors

 Makes me happy!

The sun was in and out all day today competing with clouds ... That's okay though because I have my own interior sunshine with these babies!

I'm still working on my glass is half full approach!  I've decided to embrace this last month of winter with optimism and to enjoy it like a rose that is fading away!
