11-11-11

First Snow!
Looking a bit bleak wouldn't you say?
I don't know about you, but my mind is already
on Thanksgiving Day and I can smell
the turkey and pumpkin pie!!
 Have you ever read
(click on this link below)

It wasn't a lot but enough to stick to
surfaces!  It will be melted by early
afternoon!  Thank goodness!
I'm way behind on my outside duties.
I lost two weeks with
family matters and moving my
daughter to her new apartment
about 200 miles away.
This weekend is supposed to be dryer
so I will be outside finishing up my
tasks.  I haven't even emptied my
pottery yet!
Time to put away the lawn furniture and
all my pottery before the big snow comes!

Today is also Veterans Day
In honor of my Father and
all Veterans
Thank-you for your
service and commitment for
all of us.
My father served in the Air Force during
World War II.
He was part of the
China-Burma-India Theater
also know as "the Hump"
He was stationed in India

You can read about
"the Hump"

Veterans Day 11-11-11

In honor of my father who served in
World War II
and all Veterans

Thank-you

for your service and commitment
for all of us.
1942
This is not a picture of him, but it is from
the archives of the China-Burma-India
Theater also known as the "The Hump"
He was stationed in India when the
war ended.

We also received our first official snow
overnight.  It will be melted by this
afternoon (thank goodness!)
Hope you have a great weekend!
I will be spending part of mine
putting away my garden pottery
and removing this display
before it turns into mush!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my son who
turned 28 today!
We talked on the phone and both
agreed that this was making both
of us feel old!

30 is creeping up and that means
I will have just passed 55! Yikes!!
Where did the time go??
This was him as a toddler
pulling his uncle
(Or thinking he was)
on the little
John Deere tractor!
All growed up!
Day before his wedding this past summer!
Happy Birthday Ryan,
you've always brought great joy to us and we love you!

Gone...for a few days

   Gone for a few days...
                   High speed weekend ahead...

Thursday evening
we head down to see the family

 Friday
Attending a memorial service for my
brother-in-law Bob
which would have been his
70th birthday
This is Bob with my nephew Ken who is currently
serving in the Navy.  I sent Bob this sweatshirt
for his birthday a couple of years ago.
The name and number of the ship he served on
is embroidered on it.
(I found an on line company that does
this special order. Militarygifts.com)
The USS John R Pierce, DD753
a destroyer, in the 1960's...
and was there during the
(Bahía de Cochinos) Bay of Pigs Invasion
which led up to the
Cuban Missile Crisis.

SATURDAY
On Saturday we finish packing up our

daughters things
 and on Sunday we head
to Grand Rapids to move her into
her new apartment
 It's a duplex home
built in 1915
and has some great old
original cabinetry and
woodwork

Somewhere in the middle of this fast weekend
I'll see my Mom and sisters.
As usual I am in and out rather quickly...

I've been married for 33 years and lived
away from my family for all of them.

I  also plan to spend
Thanksgiving and Christmas with them
this year...
250 miles each way!

Back on Monday!

Hugs to all!
Liz
