Easter dinner early...

Happy Easter everyone! Sunday was my birthday and our daughter surprised me with a weekend visit. She made a delicious and super cute cake for me so I decided I to set a table for Easter since we aren't going to be together.

We're heading down to see my Mom and sisters

and she has other obligations.

She knows I love lemon so she made me a lemon flavored cake (real lemons) and a blueberry butter cream frosting (real blueberry's too) and candied lemon pieces.

Those lemons taste so good-sweet and tender!

I wanted to include it in my tablescape but the table is small so

I had to do this in two parts.

Inspiration

I was looking for inspiration for an Easter tablescape and it was

delivered to my door!

This tablescape was designed after I received this beautiful floral arrangement from my son and his wife. There is a gentle mix of orange, pinks and yellows and it fits in the room so well!

While looking through my collection of Easter goodies I found some hand wrapped yarn eggs that my Mom gave me many years ago. I decided they were the perfect element to tie all these colors together.

I clustered some paper grass to set the eggs on which I felt lended to the relaxed organic look I wanted.

I used the Napolean Bee flatware and a rattan charger to continue my theme.

There are four patterns in the set of these dishes.

The Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage dishes worked in perfectly too.

They are a great accent dish.

The pink Bordallo cabbage bowls had to be included with this Easter table and the Mikasa Italian Countryside dishes proved to be the best companion dinner plate.

My rabbit and egg theme have been strong this year. These egg shaped salt and pepper shakers are carried along by the rabbit in this cute cart.

The bunnies are hanging around hoping for some greens to be tossed their way. That little guy on the right thinks he's hiding!

I adore all the different flowers, textures and color the florist incorporated here in this and I think it's beautifully arranged.

And I have to tell you it smells wonderful!

Whimsical Valentine Birthday!

Happy Valentines Day!

Welcome to my

Whimsical Valentine Birthday table!

I've got two birthdays and Valentines

Day all within 7 days of each other!

Today is hubby's birthday so I made

his favorite German Chocolate Cake

I used a 6" cake pan and made

3 layers

Cupid has landed and is taking

a brief rest...All of his romantic

hearts and jewels are scattered

about

and he's content to rest

among them.

This red ankle boot is

decked out with shiny baubles

I used tissue paper to fill in the

boot and help highlight it's shape

and to hide a small vase for

the flowers

Baby's Breath, White Tulips

and Red Roses

A mercury glass stemmed candle holder

adds a little romance and glitz

I used my ruby red water

goblets with my crystal wine

glasses from Mikasa

Some whimsically printed napkins

folded under a clear salad plate that is

surrounded with fanciful glass marbles

This Baroque flatware from

Neiman Marcus adds to the romantic

ambiance...I love the delicate edge

on these Ralph Lauren Sophia

dishes (found them at T.J.Maxx)

I wanted to keep this a bit delicate and to keep the softness of the whites

going, so I chose not to use a charger

or a placemat.

The table runner was from Home Goods

I folded it in the center to shorten it and used the square mirror to hide the fold.

The tablecloth was from T.J.'s last year.

It's simple, a little whimsical

and a touch romantic!

Hmm...I forgot to put out

the wine!

Daylight has slipped away and

it's time for dinner... can't wait

to try the cake!

Ti's the Season!

Ti's the season for sure!

I've only begun to think about my holiday decorating, no tree up or mantel decorated just yet!

I decided to have a little fun with these

seasonal plates.

Since this will be just a casual meal I chose my Fleur-de-lis black and white checked tablecloth.

My red rick rack trimmed black and white mini checkered napkins
came in to play too!

What's that?

Polka dots??

Well, I did say I wanted to have

some fun!

These chargers from Pier 1 Imports work

out so well for many different themes.

Today they remind me of the snow blowing and whirling around!

These red dishes have just the right

coloring (my kind of red!)

I thought these were sweet when I saw

them at T.J. Maxx and had to have them!

The polka dot plates have been waiting

around for something to do, so today

I put them into action!

I topped it all off with a coffee mug and a peppermint stick to stir into the coffee!

These red flatware pieces are from

Williams Sonoma (on sale) ya have to keep an eye on them for their sales! I think they will get used a lot for various settings!

I went into my Christmas stockpile of

deco stuff and dug out a few pieces

The red velvet floral ball was from Pottery Barn a few years ago...one of my favorites still!

The mercury pieces were more finds from T.J. Maxx- the ornament on top was one I found at a specialty gift shop last year in PA while visiting our son.
