Fall Quickly Slipping Away!

I've emptied my planters of annuals.  It's always sad to have to do that but I'm already looking forward to next spring!  "To Plant A Garden Is to Believe In Tomorrow",  Audrey Hepburn.

This Japanese Maple literally glowed!

The fountain is turned off due to all the leaves falling.  Dan will winterize it soon.

I've played around with my deck arrangement a few times.
I see it every morning while having my coffee.  I like to fuss!

Such a lovely glow!
The new steps will get stained next year.

We planted this Norway Maple several years ago.

I love the color it turns!

Burgundy Glow Ajuga, it's filling in nicely and I look forward to seeing it next spring!

Asters which I need to plant in the garden soon!

We have a lot of maples, oaks, beech and ash trees around us.

Lots of leaves everywhere!

I will fill his basket with Christmas items soon!

Thanks for your vist!

Fall Views From My Backyard

It only lasts a little while but I'm enjoying every minute!  We had our first hard frost last night so things will be changing rapidly.
I have to admit I'm anxious for 2020 to be over with. I'm already excited about Christmas in part because I want to see this year come to an end and then I'll be that much closer to next spring!

I sit at the kitchen table watching this every morning.  The sun illuminates the trees so beautifully!  Loving the contrast of the green shrubs with the color.

A little frost damage...

There's a lot of maples around us so we get a good variety of color!

 Loving these colors!

I added a little more to this setting including a new lantern (Kirklands)
I found the candle holder at Hobby Lobby and put a pumpkin on top.  I made the bow using a Bowdabra bow maker which was very handy!

All ready for Halloween!

Outdoor Fall "Deckorating"

I deckorated a bit more lightly than in the past which is how I feel about this year!  You can see my planters out front of the garage.  I tied up my King Tut grass and surrounded the area with mini pumpkins plus a metal painted one.

Our ash tree is dropping leaves steadily.  We've been getting rain on and off so much lately it's hard to find a sunlit picture!  We've been having an arborist do injections on the tree to fight off the emerald ash borer and it's worked!

I caught an evening shot with some sun that I thought was pretty!

Anyway back to my "deckorating"!  I found an assortment of pumpkins and gourds at a local farm and they were quite reasonable.  I tried to pick out various colors and textures.

I nestled this bird on the bucket and mother nature accented it beautifully with leaves!

I layered three pumpkins with grape vine wreaths which I've saved to use over several years now.

I found that Farm Fresh Pumpkins bucket at Hobby Lobby a while back and the orange cauldron style pumpkin I got while visiting in Pennsylvania recently.  Some geraniums still hanging on!

I created this wreath several years ago and decided to bring it out and hang it on the back of the house.  This area stays pretty dry.   I had found the fox at JoAnn's and attached it to the wreath, it was designed to be a door hanging by itself already.  I just inserted a bunch of faux fall flowers as well as acorn and miniature gourds and pumpkins.

I'm having trouble with squirrels eating on the pumpkin with the nobby texture and my corn stalks (there aren't any corn husks). I just realized in this picture that they've toppled the corn stalks over.   Anyway I think I'll try spraying the deer/rabbit away product on them and see if that helps.

Does anyone know how to do spellcheck with the new blogger format?

Anyway here is my Outdoor Fall Deckorating!

Halloween DECKorating

I've pulled out my pumpkin lanterns to get ready for Halloween!

I got these several years ago and just keep reusing them.  I have battery operated lights to stick inside.

As you can see fall has really set in here.

I dug out this geranium from a planter and placed it at the edge of the woods.  It's doing great.  I know they can take the cold so we'll see how long it lasts!

Everyday Dan blows the leaves and every morning they're back!
I thought I'd show you how it looks at this time of the year.

Thanks for visiting my Halloween DECKorating!

Fall DECKorating (2019)

 Welcome to my Fall DECKorating!

I love to collect different pumpkins and gourds.

I've kept my Baby King Tut plant going and I poked in my scarecrow.  His face is made of glass and for a short period during the day the sun shines behind it!

I always like to make a stack of pumpkins too!

I found this tin at Michael's last year.  I drilled a hole in the bottom to help drain it from rain water.  I used a big clump of pine needles to stuff it with.  I love the little pumpkins!

I brought my coleus planter that was on the other side of the deck.  I thought it filled in the area nicely!

I created a graduation of pumpkins and gourds up the steps and around the corner to keep your eye moving along.

I anchored the corn stalks on both sides of the corner so it gives you a visual from both angles.

Thank you for checking out my Fall DECKorating!
