Outdoor Fall "Deckorating"

I deckorated a bit more lightly than in the past which is how I feel about this year!  You can see my planters out front of the garage.  I tied up my King Tut grass and surrounded the area with mini pumpkins plus a metal painted one.

Our ash tree is dropping leaves steadily.  We've been getting rain on and off so much lately it's hard to find a sunlit picture!  We've been having an arborist do injections on the tree to fight off the emerald ash borer and it's worked!

I caught an evening shot with some sun that I thought was pretty!

Anyway back to my "deckorating"!  I found an assortment of pumpkins and gourds at a local farm and they were quite reasonable.  I tried to pick out various colors and textures.

I nestled this bird on the bucket and mother nature accented it beautifully with leaves!

I layered three pumpkins with grape vine wreaths which I've saved to use over several years now.

I found that Farm Fresh Pumpkins bucket at Hobby Lobby a while back and the orange cauldron style pumpkin I got while visiting in Pennsylvania recently.  Some geraniums still hanging on!

I created this wreath several years ago and decided to bring it out and hang it on the back of the house.  This area stays pretty dry.   I had found the fox at JoAnn's and attached it to the wreath, it was designed to be a door hanging by itself already.  I just inserted a bunch of faux fall flowers as well as acorn and miniature gourds and pumpkins.

I'm having trouble with squirrels eating on the pumpkin with the nobby texture and my corn stalks (there aren't any corn husks). I just realized in this picture that they've toppled the corn stalks over.   Anyway I think I'll try spraying the deer/rabbit away product on them and see if that helps.
Does anyone know how to do spellcheck with the new blogger format?

Anyway here is my Outdoor Fall Deckorating!

  1. I love looking at your garden and the decor for fall is so pretty. That pumpkin bucket is so cute.

  2. Liz, Your deck is always decorated so beautifully. I love that fox wreathe you made. Adorable. I like that you could save the ash tree. Indiana has lost about every ash tree. My daughter and her husband have lost probably 20 ash trees on the property. I hope you enjoy this October. Be safe. Blessings to you and your husband, xoxo, Susie

  3. I am so glad you can mix your fall decor with the summer flowers still holding on. We are suppose to get a frost this weekend so I think that is going to do it for what is left of my summer flowers. It is looking so good for fall. Great job. xoxo Have a great weekend. xoxo Kris

  4. What a great look for fall. Love the stacked pumpkins. Great news on saving the Ashy tree. The wreath with the fox is darling. Happy October.

  5. Liz, your deck is so inviting and speaks volumes of Fall. I love your evening shot. The warm glow of the sun is so restful. Your selection of various pumpkins and corn stalk is so stunning against all of the greenery in your yard. So very pretty.

  6. Autumn is lovely on your deck, Liz. I really like the square fox wreath you made. So clever and original. Sorry about the pesky squirrels! They certainly can cause a lot of damage to so many things.

  7. If this is light decor, I can't imagine when you go all out! It looks great. I really like the fallen leaves, too. I don't know if they bug you or not but I find them very fitting and another color and texture. (I know -- squirrels!)

  8. Liz, your deck is decorated perfectly for the season. I just love seeing the fallen leaves everywhere, they look so pretty. Stacked pumpkins always get my attention. I am so glad the arborist is helping save your ash tree. Happy Autumn!

  9. Liz,
I have pinned your stacked pumpkins, looks like a beautiful Fall magazine photo. So great that you have been able to save that gorgeous Ash Tree, it's a real beauty. Love the play on words "deckorated." made me smile.
Beautiful Fall in your gorgeous neck of the woods!
