Delphinium Inspired Floral Tablescape (T)

Sadly my beautiful delphiniums became broken over so badly that they were just going to die a quick death so I decided to cut them and use them in an arrangement.  Then I decided to create a floral tablescape!

Just a few days ago I took these pics.

Today they were a broken over.  ðŸ˜•

I cut more flowers from the gardens including some lilies, butterfly weed, zinnias, pink speedwell and the delphiniums.  A very casual just gathered look!

I rummaged through my dish hoard storage and these beauties showed up.  They have all the colors I wanted and are so beautiful for summer dining.

I chose the orange placemats to repeat the orange found in the arrangement.
OMG I am totally cracking up...I just realized I had the fork and spoon on the wrong side when I took the pictures!

Perhaps it's silly to light candles during the day but these are scented so they're giving off a nice aroma.

I dressed the base of the floral arrangement with a crocheted piece that I stole acquired from my mother's home a few years ago.

I'm going to serve iced tea with a little bit of lemonade in them.  I chose these champagne flutes because they reminded me of the shape of the vase.  A friend is bringing some chicken salad sandwiches on croissants!  I'm adding some cut pieces of cantaloupe.

The etched floral designs on the vase (up near the top) and champagne flutes have a similar design.

My kids gave me this ice tea maker and I really like it.  It works pretty fast and tastes great!

Around 1:00 the sun is hidden behind the trees for a while.  Perfect time for a lunch!

I read something once about having dinner guests over and if you find you are short on time, then go ahead and bake pot pies or something simple like that but serve them in something special to show your guests you cared.  That stuck in my head and opened the door to not only setting up pretty tables for special occasions but anytime you wish!

  1. Lovely table for two, Liz! I really like your arrangement in that pretty vase. The flutes do go well with it. Delphiniums are so bad about falling over that I've given up growing them. Your's are such a pretty pop of color with the oranges. I've never seen an ice tea maker. Enjoy your luncheon overlooking your pretty garden, my friend. ♥

  2. Beautiful. They’re one of my favorites by far. I use bamboo sticks and tie them with a small piece of twine so they don’t fall over. Similar to what is used with orchids.
    Lovely arrangement.

  5. Oh my goodness, Liz. I had to comment....I just started to laugh when I saw the "spoon and fork issue"...I can't tell you the number of times that Pat and I have done that. You handled it with humor and a laugh. Just perfect for all of us crazy tablescapers. Thank you for making my day. And your table is lovely.

  7. Wow, very pretty! I love the vibrant colors in the flowers. Isn't it a good thing we all "collect" dishes so that when a floral emergency like this one happens - we just happen to have the right plates to go with it - and those beautiful delphiniums didn't go to waste?!!

  8. Your table is so pretty. Terry and I have two of those ice tea makers and he has one at his office too. He is constantly drinking ice tea all day and goes through so much. That maker is so great. We love ours too. Happy Summer Day.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  11. Hi Liz, your flowers from your gardens have such gorgeous colors and the delphiniums are striking in their purple radiance. Your arrangement is so pretty with your summer tablescape. The orange in the plates and placemats just pop. Who wouldn't love to sit at your table and gaze at your gardens.
