Designing for Thanksgiving on the Mantel

I've kept the white lanterns on the mantel with the fall leaves attached.  I've carried this look since early fall.

Using a pair of golden pheasants in the center and adding some faux plant material with feathers to represent the woodland floor.

I just wanted something simple with a woodland feeling.  I thought instead of a turkey I'd use pheasants since both turkeys and pheasants are such classic birds of the fall woodland scene.

I'm dreaming up ideas for Christmas and still plan to use the white lanterns again.

Creating a cozy and warm atmosphere is always good at this time of year.

  1. Liz,
    Elegantly done, dear friend!!!
I adore the golden pheasants with the candle tapers!!!
    Blessings to you during Thanksgiving!!!

  2. HI Liz! Your mantel looks beautiful! Ii want those white lanterns! ;) The painting is gorgeous too! You always make pretty.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  3. Very pretty Liz. I love pheasants for the fall. I checked out the dishes at Macy's and decided I'm going with Pheasant dishes versus Turkey. Something about pheasants in fall. Don't have any idea where that love came from.

  4. Your pheasants are wonderful! My husband would also agree. Those white lanterns are so versatile and good for any time of year. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for Christmas, too.

  5. Liz,
Your creative spirit shines through and I like the way you have incorporated the beauty of the elegant pheasant. You know growing up in Idaho we had wild pheasants on the farm and they were always a joy to watch and they are beautiful birds as well.

  6. Liz, your mantel is beautiful. I love the autumn touches to the lanterns, and your painting is exquisite. I have the cousins to your pheasants! Hope you have a wonderful week.

  7. Very pretty, Liz. I love your pheasants. I have a pair, I think, but they are much more simple and their heads aren't pretty like yours. Have a happy week!

  8. So warm and beautiful! Love it!

  9. I love it, simple but elegant! I have looked for a pair of pheasants for ages and never found them. Now I am going to REALLY get serious;)

  10. Hi Liz, so beautifully done. The pheasants are a treasure. Love the soft glow of light from the lanterns on each side. Have a great week. xo

  11. I really like the way that looks, Liz. It is very simple but very elegant looking, too. Those pheasants are GREAT and they really steal the mantle show! lol xo Diana

  12. great looking mantel. The pheasants look fabulous, along with the decorated lanterns. I have always admired the design of your mantel.

  13. Liz, I just love your mantle. Sooo pretty and elegant! xxx Maria

  14. Very pretty, Liz, and I love those gold pheasants. We have pheasants around here and often hear that distinctive sound they make.
