Patriotic Decorating Ready for the 4th!

Yesterday I decided to do a little patriotic decorating for the 4th of July.
I changed out the plates on the plate rack and tied on some ribbons to start my red white and blue patriotic tribute!

Uncle SAM was new last year from Hobby Lobby

I grouped him in the corner on the tray and added some sparkly pieces to the pitcher.  I used the sparkly pieces in a little project last year as seen "here".

Up above you'll notice another Uncle SAM.

He's a little gem I got from Pier 1 a few years ago.
I used him for the first time in a favorite little post as seen "here"

I found some cute little salt and pepper shakers at Cracker Barrel.  They have the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell and the White House

I've also been going through this new book I ordered called The American Flag by Mary Emmerling.  I'm enjoying the images in this book a lot.

Wouldn't you love to own the plate on the right!

I feel ready for the 4th of July now!

Let's Hear It For The Red White And Blue!

Celebrating our Independence!

I've created a small centerpiece with a pair of flags adorning it

I chose to use this wire wall basket as a caddy for napkins and straws.  I stuffed some excelsior in the bottom of the basket to act like bedding for the chicken and a there are a few cherries that are tucked in the back.  It's also easy to remove if needed. We serve buffet style most of the time since the table doesn't accommodate much in the way of serving dishes.

The salt glazed coffee cup has been with me a long time.  I spotted it this morning when I pulled out the straws from the cupboard.  Kind of my own "I Heart America" look!

I rolled the napkins using a taper candle as my form and tied them off with the blue ribbon before I removed the candle.  Notice the cute mini salt and pepper shakers- those were  gifted to me from Kathe @ Kathe With an E last year.  I saw some salt and pepper shakers she had used with a tablescape and commented on how I liked them.   I thought they'd go well with my ear of corn dish and the next thing I know she sent me this 4 pc. set!
Thank you again Kathe!

I followed the sales and finally got these melamine dishes from Pottery Barn.  I loved the wavy uneven design.  The placemats and tablecloth are from Kohls (great sale prices, but pretty picked over already).   Red swirl glasses are from Pier 1 about 3 years ago.  They always bring in a festive look to any table!

I hate to use a flash but this was the only way to get a picture of this corner (it's about to rain here again and it's overcast and kind of dark).  I wanted to add some patriotic accents to the room.  The big metal star was given to me by my sister several years ago  (Cracker Barrel).  The Uncle Sam Nutcracker was from Hobby Lobby earlier in the spring this year.

This jolly Uncle Sam is from last year (Pier 1). I had to put him somewhre- he's so cute!
I used him twice last year once "here" and the other "here"

Casual and patriotic with a little country flair!

Let's hear it for the Red, White and Blue!

I have a good recipe shredded beef.  It's an old one from the 60's that my family always loves and it's called Bar-B-Q Beef.  I don't know how to do it in a printable recipe form but I'll put it on another post for Friday in case anyone would like it!

Independence Day-Lets Celebrate!

July 4th
Independence Day
*************
Let's celebrate!

 A new find for me.
This pictures portrays both segments of the Declaration of Independence and also segments from the "I Have A Dream" speech by the Rev. Martin Luther King

On a visit to Pennsylvania in 2011 I picked up this bread tray at my favorite place called Wendell August.  These are hand forged and crafted at their company as they have since 1923

I've added a bit of red to my plate rack to get in the spirit too!
(3 more pieces from Wendell August are on here too)

I wanted to create a cheerful expression of patriotism, classic Americana and summer vibes.

I was able to collect my own flowers from my gardens.

I've got peonies, salvia, an iris and some lilacs in the bouquet.  It smells delightful!

When Susan at Between Naps on the Porch posted a tablescape by her friend Marie I spotted this Uncle Sam in the car.  I was smitten by it immediately and was thrilled to find it at Pier 1 (only one left too!)

I mixed my sparkly napkin rings with these red napkins that are adorned with tiny crystals. I chose the rattan chargers to add a little organic matter.

The Diner Checked dinnerware, cherry and red swirl glassware all fit in well with my theme.
I slipped in a piece of Coconut Cream Pie
(we'll probably have apple pie but I had this on hand)!

I found the vase in storage. It was one of my Mother's treasures that she allowed me to take home a few years back.  I love the cobalt blue ruffled edge on it.
My centerpiece dish has cherries on it like the red pitcher. When we eat I will use it for serving on and my florals can be easily lifted away.  If we have any guests I will take this outside on the patio.

Aren't these salt and pepper shakes cute.
They are another Pier 1 Imports item... as are the scattered glass beads and stars.
I'm hungry how about you!

Thank you for visiting and I hope your Independence Day celebrations will be full of good times and good food!
