Weekend Fall Touring to Mackinaw City

We had a couple of gorgeous days this past weekend and I convinced hubby to get out and do some sightseeing.  There are pockets of areas with fall colors so we ventured off to see some.
These were drive by shots in the car so they aren't always perfect.

Along the way we spotted this little gem..a '56 Ford Thunderbird.  We stopped to check it out.

They wanted $45,000 so we had to pass....I've always wanted one of these cute early versions of the Ford Thunderbird.

Our venture took us towards the middle of the state and we followed I-75 up to Mackinaw City.  We ran into some road re-paving.  Some people say Michigan has two season, road construction and winter! LOL...

We stopped at a rest area and there was a small lake located right next to it.  Those a geese on the lake although with my cell phone camera it's not easy to make out.

The next two weeks we will see a lot more color but this is a nice start!

We did a little wandering through the stores in Mackinaw City.   A lot of them were offering 50 to 75% off because they will close for the season later this month.
After we had some dinner we stopped to take a few pictures of the Mackinac Bridge.

On this side of the bridge you can walk right down to the waters edge and view it from underneath.  I've never done this before and it was a wonderful view.  Listening to the waves gently crashing in was very peaceful.

As we walked back I took another shot.

I turned to leave and snapped a shot of one of the ferry boats (that transfers people back and forth to Mackinac Island) that was coming across the water and our shadows included! (Mackinac Island is on the left side of the picture)

With that I'll say buh-bye for now!
