I was feeling nostalgic after a weekend of visiting with our daughter and her boyfriend over the 4th of July holiday. The house goes quiet again and you are left to reflect and feel nostalgic.

I set the table for Dan and I and added some items of sentiment.

I started this setting by using these golden yellow colored placemats (they remind me of the petals of Black Eyed Susans) to pic up on the bottom edge of the tablecloth, but I wanted another color in the mix.

I chose green! I wanted the table to have that summer feel.

I spotted these dishes at T.J. Maxx a few months ago and found them hard to resist. I sway back and forth between loving French and Italian accents. I chose the white napkins to work with the other white elements in the tablescape and the napkin rings are from Pier 1, 2 years ago. The white dishes were from Home Goods, "Palm Restaurant" bone china. I wish I had bought more- very nice quality.

The framed picture is a gift from our daughter. She recently spent a few days on Mackinac Island and bought this for us.

Michigan artist Kathleen Chaney Fritz paints wonderful scenes of various places in Michigan. There is a whole series of pictures she's done on Mackinac Island. We were all together there in 2012 when our son, his wife, her parents and brother visited with us.
I decided to include this picture for nostalgic reasons.

I found the candle during the last visit when Chelsea and Greg were home. We toured the Leelanau County region and I found this at a boutique shop. I've been enjoying it a lot and have nearly exhausted the candle! The scent has delicate hints of pine in it. Definitely reminds you of a walk through the woods!

I borrowed the rooster from my kitchen windowsill- I needed something for height. I would have loved to use my shasta daisies but they're not quite open yet. The food was served on the empty side which was a collection of left-overs from the weekend.
