Designing for Thanksgiving

This time of year especially for us in the northern climate our nesting instincts kick in.  We're beginning to be indoors more and making our "den" cozy is important.

I started in the little dining nook because we spend a fair amount of time in this area.
I've moved a couple of pieces around from my Halloween display as seen "here" and added a few pieces for Thanksgiving.

A white turkey I ordered on-line from Pier 1 because they said it was only available on-line.
This is a link to it and it's on sale in case you want to view it "here"
I'm not compensated- just sharing.

These turkey salt and pepper shakers are from Pier 1 last year.
The wood display stand is also from Pier 1- can't find it on line but I did see some at our store still available.
I staged my Spode Woodland Turkey dishes on top.

I kept the bottom two shelves the same since it's still that time of year where we've harvested our food and can still appreciate the beauty of the bounty.  You can see some flower buds forming on my Christmas cactus.  It's a little early this year but always nice to see it bloom!

I moved the copper pumpkin over here and staged a couple more pieces along side it.  The big white farm farmhouse tub that was here is now on the Étagère.

I got a kick out of these tea-light holders from Pier 1 this year and picked this funny little guy up.

When we were up in Mackinac City I lucked out and got this Jim Shore piece 50% off.  I tried to find a female piece to go with this one but I guess there wasn't any created.  I liked that is was not typical of the Jim Shore pieces that are usually much more colorful.

The dinner plates on the plate rack are from Pottery Barn (called Banded Botanical Dinner Plate - no longer available on line) and I chose them to be a back drop to these watercolor pumpkin plates from last year.

I believe the salt and pepper shakes were from Pier 1 last year and the he owl is new from there too.  I'm looking for something to go in his spot but haven't landed on it yet so the owl will stay for now.  The pitcher is a find from T.J.Maxx and is made by Fitz and Floyd.  I just loved the twisted wood like handle on it!

So there you have the beginnings of my Designing for Thanksgiving!

  7. Your decorations are lovely. I remember those nesting instincts from when we lived in Illinois. Here in Texas there is never a dramatic difference. It's 75 in the day, and people here are wearing their boots anyway.

  8. Liz this is just stunning. The first thing I noticed was the pitcher. I didn't know the maker but when you mention Fitz and Floyd it made sense, looks just like them. You are so right about that Jim Shore piece. Sometimes I want something of his but a bit too colorful for me in a way. This piece is super and 50% off. Pottery Barn has the nicest dishes in fall. I like the Woodland dishes. I looked at some on Replacements.com and I'm going to wait until next year to purchase a few salad plates. A bit expensive for this year.
