The subject was roses!

It's a little early for us here in Northern Michigan to have roses blooming but I wanted to joint the
"Fresh Cut Friday" party with

I'm going to post a few favorite pictures of mine from the past
This was a small bouquet I made last year with my Queen Elizabeth Grandiflora roses mixed with some Limelight Hydrangeas and a few clippings from a Cordyline plant.

Queen Elizabeth Grandiflora
I am particularly fond of this rose because A) it grows for me and not subject to a lot of disease problems
B) it comes back each year without too much fuss!
As it progresses to open

These two are shots my son took with his Nikon in 2010.  It was the first year I had it in my garden. I really enjoy the way it forms it's perfect rosebuds and then opens up gracefully into a beautiful soft pink color.

Shrub Rose

This is my only other rose.
It's a shrub rose.  It comes back every year but never gets any larger than this.  I'm thinking I should move it to a different location. The blue spruce next to it has gotten so large it's encroaching on everything.

Lastly-Long Stemmed Roses

Cut roses for our anniversary
back in April. I loved the variations of color in these and they dried very nicely and still have a great smell!
I made an arrangement with the dried anniversary roses, dried lavender and some faux Queen Anne's Lace

Thanks for visiting!
Have a great weekend!

  5. Your roses are beautiful. The Queen Elizabeth is a magnificent rose and since this is the year of the jubilee, it is extra special. I just had to move a shrub rose too. Once I moved it, it started growing and has doubled in size...what a surprise!
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

  6. Hi Liz,
I have to say that my Queen Elizabeth is the same. She just does her job every year. Always has a ton of blooms on it to! I love what you did with your dried arrangement. Perfect! :)

Thank you for joining in for FCF! :)

  7. Queen Elizabeth is a favorite in my garden too. So easy to grow, survives anything winter can throw at her and is the most luscious color!
