Working on that TAN

I've been working on my TAN some more!
Yes the Terrarium, Angel and Nest jar!

My first attempt was okay, but the silver
mercury look in this setting just wasn't
going to work. It was interesting too that
by putting the mercury glass bird in there
it accentuated the gray of the terrarium
and the white tone in the jar even more-
Plus I changed the lamp to one that has
an ivory lampshade and antique gold
accents- but  it seemed to fight the
whole thing. I debated now on buying a
white lamp shade and putting the brown
lamp back.....but my cheap-0-meter came
out and I was determined not to buy
another lamp!
I did however go to a favorite garden
center which also has some fun garden
type deco and found another faux plant
and the angel.
Last night I played with it for a little
while but I knew the lamp just had to go!
This morning I shopped my house
and took a lamp from the living room
that I never considered trying here
before.  It felt good right away and
I felt like it pulled things together
nicely.  It's olivy green tones work
well with the tuscan picture on the
wall and it's overall shape seemed
to fit right in!
The white in the jar calmed down
and the gray on the terrarium felt
more brown which helped.
The feather (I thought it was a leaf) dish also
brought in a copper tone which added
warmth and another
tone to work with.
Speaking of the jar....do you remember I
posted about it arriving with a broken top?
Well after hubby glued it together with epoxy,
I used some white tester's paint and covered
up the cracks.
I think it came out well!
 The plants are all faux.
 I perched the little angel
on a clay pot and I took some moss
and made a bed to dress it all out.
I just love her sweet face...
The leaf dish was a find at
Home Goods back in December.  I
bought it thinking it might work on this
table.  The Nest jar was from
One King's Lane, and I just liked it but
didn't have a plan for it.  The Terrarium
is from Kohls.  They have at least 40% off
on it right now and if you have a coupon
you can get it even cheaper.  When I saw
the terrarium I felt I had found a piece
that could unite the Nest Jar and
the Leaf plate.

It's hard to work something in like
this- especially since it's not in the
Tuscan vein that I usually work
with.  I have a split personality
when it comes to decorating and
I'm always fighting with it!!  I
like too many things!

How about you???

Thanks for coming by,
Liz

  6. The paint definitely did the trick on that jar. You have way more patience than I would ever have for moving things about. You did a WONDERFUL job as usual though! It looks great!
