Christmas in the Square

Greetings!
I've got a sinus problem and am
feeling a little down so I ran out of
steam for a new tablescape.

I went through my archives and found
my very first
"tablescape" that I posted
on the HGTV/Rate My Space
website in 2009

It was an important dinner as
our son was coming home from
Pennsylvania and it was the  first
time his girlfriend was visiting
us at our home!
The centerpiece was from Michaels
but I embellished it more because it
was a bit too simple. (Sorry so dark)
These were new dishes for me
from Macy's Cellar group
collection.  I was intrigued
with their square shape.
I decided a simple fold laid in
the bowl was a nice way to display
the red against the white and gold
dinnerware.
My little candle votives I've had
for years are from Mikasa
The red plaid tablecloth has gold
threads in it too and the gold
flatware had to be my choice.
 My trusty Wallace Euro Beads
flatware
My crystal stemware is by Mikasa
called Windlass.  I liked the
movement in the cuts on it
 and they are  weighted nicely.
I'm kind of big about how a glass feels
in the hand as well as flatware.
Earlier in the day when I was setting
up the table.  I used the beaded placemats
which were great but the disappeared
until the huge plates that this set had!

So that was my table for Christmas 2009
The kids got home a little late so we
didn't eat until about 8:30 that night
but it was a treat to have my son home
and his new girlfriend who is now
his lovely wife!
Cheers!!

  5. What a fun memory from this table and how wonderful that she is part of the family now! I love your square plates too. There is something about square that is so unusual. I also love the gold swirls on them. Hope you are doing a little better. Get rest.

  6. I am glad you stopped by so that I could visit your beautiful table! I love the centerpiece and dishes. I love the idea of hanging ornaments from your chandlier! I may steal that idea! Just a beautiful setting! I am sure your son and girlfriend felt special sitting at your table.
Tell your sister I share her anxiousness of keeping the house perfect! I didn't even decorate alot. It has put a damper on the whole season.
Merry Christmas and thank you for stopping by..
    Blessings My Friend,

  9. Hi Liz! Sorry to hear about your sinuses. I know it's hard to tablescape when you aren't feeling well. But your oldie but goodie table is SOOOOO pretty! Love those dishes and they go so well with the stemware. The centerpiece is so graceful, and I love the elegant flatware against the plaid tablecloth.

    Feel better!

  13. This is super cool, Liz! You were rockin' it with the tablescaping back in 2009 even before the term became so popular! Those dishes are fabulous, and I'll bet you love them as much today as you did when you first bought them. I have found that many of my "oldest" dishes are my most favored. That is certainly NOT to say I don't LOVE the new stuff! :-) Great walk down memory lane!
